Of bulling today we are more aware,
Schools have strategies, so bullies beware!
Taunting, abuse and calling names,
The bullies excuse--just playing games!
We picture the bully as strong and tall
But that may not be the culprit at all,
Frail-looking bullies can slyly tease,
Their nasty tales make pupils ill at ease,
They can isolate socially someone they choose,
So these lonely targets have friends they can lose.
The bully--poor role models, outside of school?
Conditioned by elders both unfair and cruel?
Perhaps they don’t fit in, or there’s pressure from peers,
Is that an excuse to reduce classmates to tears?
Do they view these examples in films, on TV?
Is it aggressive behaviours we want them to see?
Parents and teachers should discuss forming rules,
Work hard to discourage this scourge in our schools,
Make school policies known in school and outside,
So each pupil’s rights cannot be denied!
