Song: The Party Scene - All Time Low
&&&
After Jack announced that Emily had accepted the request to babysit Myra, I searched through my closet for something suitable to wear. My wardrobe mainly consisted of sweaters and skinny jeans, but I did managed to find a nice outfit. That night, I wore regular jeans and a white t-shirt. It was pretty plain, I'll admit. For my hair, I curled the ends and applied little make up. Jack and Alex were still in the living room, but I couldn't hear what they were doing since I had my headphones in.
Finished with getting ready, I walked out of my bedroom and toward Myra's room. She'd woken up about five minutes earlier, but told Jack that she refused to leave the bed until I went to get her. I pushed open her door and stepped inside the room. Myra laid on her bed, playing with her two dolls. "Myra," I said and walked to the side of her bed, "let's put your shoes on so you can go over to Emily's house."
Myra nodded and hopped out of the bed. She ran out of the room, but shortly came back seconds later; her white flats held in her hand. She sat down on the edge of the bed beside me and I reached for her shoe. "No," Myra pushed my hand away, "I can do this on my own. I'm a big girl." She grinned widely.
I watched closely as she struggled to undo the button on her first flat. About two minutes passed by before she successfully popped the button and slipped on her shoe. "See?" She smiled triumphantly and put on her second shoe. We walked out of her bedroom and into the living room. Jack was sitting on the recliner, watching television while Alex leaned against the doorway with his phone in his hands.
"I'm going to go take her next door." I said, walking into the foyer. Jack shouted 'ok' and no reply came from Alex, not that I had expected one anyways. I pulled on my red vans and headed out the door. The sun was beginning to set and the air was warm as we headed to Emily's house. I knocked on the front door, Myra slipped her hand in mine. We waited for about a minute before the door swung open.
A cheerful blonde woman appeared at the entrance. She looked older, but still beautiful. Her green eyes held curiosity and kindness, her pink lips formed a smile. "Hello," she said, "you're our new neighbors, right?" I nodded and she continued. "You're here for Emily, right? She's in the living room."
Thanking her, Myra and I walked into the house. The entrance led directly into a large kitchen. The walls were painted a deep brown colour, the floors hardwood. Everything looked so expensive and antique. I felt like if I touched something, it would break from the delicacy. The woman introduced herself as Lois Hughes, Emily's mom.
We headed into the large living room and found a tall blonde sitting on a blue couch. Her hair was tied into a bun and she had the most prominent cheekbones I'd ever seen. There was no doubt that she had gotten most of her looks from her mother. She seemed to get everything from her, except her height. Lois seemed to barely reach 5'4" while Emily stood at around 5'10". "Hello," she greeted and stood up from the couch, "you must be, Abella, right?"
"Yeah," I said, "I can't thank you enough for accepting to babysit."
Emily smiled and shook her head. "It's no problem, at all." She said, her smile widened once she looked down at Myra. "How old are you?" She asked, leaning forward and tucking a piece of her long blonde hair behind her ear.
Myra smiled and held up seven fingers. "This many," she said with an eager grin. Emily laughed and turned toward me. She reassured me that everything would be fine and even though I'd just met her, I trusted the kind blonde. She seemed mature and the type of girl who was responsible. I felt astonishment by the fact that this seemingly mature girl even bothered to put up with Jack. I'm not completely stupid, I know that by his appearance, Jack did a little more than talking when he came to her house earlier. I wondered if her mother was in the house while they were 'talking'. She seemed like the type of woman who would freak out if someone cursed in front of her. I could only imagine her reaction if she found out what her daughter and Jack were doing behind closed doors.
