All her life, Abella Rodriguez strove to do what was best for the people around her, and for herself. She made a promise to her mother; a promise that stated she would always try her best and make something out of herself. Her mother had gotten pregnant when she was just a teenage, the last thing Lisandra wanted was for her daughter to share the same fate that she did.

Abella didn't want to live the same life that her mother was forced into. She never finished college, which meant that she had to work in factories for the majority of her life. Abella knew very well that the only reason her mother married her father was out of shame and guilt, not love or desire.

Abella didn't want that. She didn't want to have to marry someone out of shame, she wanted her wedding to be pure happiness. She didn't want to ruin her career, or have to throw away her dreams so soon. Her entire life, all she wanted was to be a published author and maybe have a career in English and taking care of the children on the side. But how was she supposed to manage college and work for eight hours a day while bearing a child? It wasn't impossible, but that surely didn't mean she wanted to try.

Abella let out a shaky sigh, her back pressed against the cushion couch. She had called Alex a few minutes prior, begging him to come to her house as soon as possible. He answered without hesitation and left his job within seconds, not even bothering to tell Candice that he was leaving early.

A dozen thoughts ran through Abella's head; all of them on what she was going to do if she really did turn out to be pregnant. She had dropped by the pharmacy store and bought nearly the entire set of pregnancy tests, she wanted to be absolutely sure that all tests were similar. If one test turned out to be positive, that didn't mean that all of them would, right?

If the tests did come out as positive, Abella had no idea where her future would lead from there. She knew that she could never bring herself to rid of the child. That was probably the last thing she could ever do; end the life of her unborn baby. She knew that this was her fault and she needed to take responsibility. She needed to face whatever came with her head up and her chest out.

When Lisandra discovered that she was pregnant with Abella, she did everything in her power to make sure that Abella was well fed and taken care of--even if that meant working double shifts and fighting off the cruel pleasure of disgusting men at the factories. But when Myra was born, Lisandra realized that she needed to step things up a bit. The mother did countless things she wasn't very proud of--things she would never admit to doing for as long as she lived. All in the sake of having her two daughters taken care of.

Abella was determined to do the same. She wasn't sure of many things at that moment; Whether Alex was going to stay or leave, the sex of the baby, how she planned to support the baby, the excruciating pain that came with child birth, and whether she was going to be a decent mother or not.

Abella Rodriguez wasn't sure of many things at that moment, but she was absolutely positive that she was going to do everything and anything it took to take care of the child. Whether Alex was going to stick by her side and support her was up to him, but she vowed to take care of the baby nonetheless.

Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when Alex burst in through the front door. If it weren't for the fact that she remembered giving him a spare key of the house, she would have been certain that he had kicked the door down.
