~*~
Abella returned back home to Baltimore the following week. Her schedule had become so busy that she needed some time to think for herself - a day off, so to say. It was quite ridiculous, seeing as she had spent an entire week in London and used it as a 'vacation', but Abella never really thought about things during her time in London. Really, she just pushed everything away and focused on her family while she was there.
Now, back in Baltimore, Abella knew that she could no longer ignore these types of things. She had brushed off the fact that, sooner or later, she was going to have to build up the courage and ask Jeffrey out on an actual date. She'd gone on plenty before with Alex, and that awkward one with Martin, but Abella had never before asked someone to go on a date. The thought of getting rejected wasn't all too pleasant.
Abella realized Jeffrey's feelings not too long ago, but that didn't stop the fear that bubbled inside of her.
Sighing quietly, Abella shook all thoughts of Jeffrey away and placed the basket of laundry on top of the washer. The washer at home had stopped working, irritating Abella more than it probably should have. It was midnight, her feet ached and she wanted nothing more than settling in her warm bed and falling asleep. She needed the rest, after all. College started tomorrow and she couldn't really afford to show up late, or tired.
Luckily for Abella, there was a nice little laundromat about five minutes away from her home. The weather was beginning to cool down, but it was still a bit too hot. Abella decided that walking to the laundromat sounded like a pretty good idea, not bothering to take note that it was midnight and there were potentially dangerous people in the streets.
There wasn't too much violence where Abella lived, but she had brought pepper spray with her, just in case.
She thought of calling Joey and asking him to keep her company, but Abella decided against this. It was midnight and Abella didn't want to run the chance of waking him up. It was too much of a bother, in her eyes.
After Abella loaded up the washing machine with her basket of clothes, she turned on the machine and took a seat near her basket. The laundromat was empty and, for some reason, this gave Abella an odd sense of discomfort. Laundromats were usually filled with the sound of children's laughter, animated voices, televisions running and the noise effects from the 80's game machines. At least, that's how she remembered things.
The last time Abella was at the laundromat was a few weeks back. Her washing machine had given out and she decided to go to the laundromat with Alex. The night had ended with nothing but laughter and Abella continuously teasing Alex for not knowing how to properly fold clothing. Well, that was the case until Alex decided to shut her up by teasing her in other areas.
Now, none of these sounds were heard, just an eerie silence that made Abella wish the washing machine would go at a faster pace.
Her mind raced with different thoughts and in the end, Abella decided that maybe being alone in a laundromat in a relatively safe area wasn't the best idea. She thought of the many different people she could call and ask to keep her company, but no matter how many different faces popped in her mind, Abella would always return back to the familiar name;
