On his days off, Alex had a tendency to waste his time away doing absolutely nothing. He liked to catch up on old television shows, watching reruns that created a sense of loving nostalgia in the young man's heart. He liked to spend his off day's in this manner, it had become a routine ever since his relationship with Abella had ended.
When he thought about it (which he didn't really like to do often), Alex realized that his life had lost a bit of the excitement it once held before. When the year began, Alex had attended countless of parties; wasting away his night with cheap beer, sort of illegal substances, and women he couldn't quite recall the names off.
Though, in the short time span of eight months, Alex had managed to change all of this. He had ditched the red cup and picked up a can of soda instead. The spliff was replaced by a different type of junk food (though it did come back once in a while to make a surprise appearance); and the different women every night was replaced with his right hand, and thoughts of a familiar brunette.
Maybe everyone else realized the slight down of excitement that filled Alex Gaskarth's life. At twenty-one, Alex should have been experiencing life to the fullest - appreciating everything and everyone in his life to it's fullest extent. He should have been doing the things that other people his age were doing, but he wasn't, and maybe that's why his friends were concerned. Maybe that's why Rian and Jack came over that Friday, practically begging Alex to get off his ass and go party with them.
"No," Alex had said at soon as the idea was brought up. As much as he loved a good keg party, he wasn't in the mood to attend such a thing. He wasn't in the mood to sit in a crowded room, trying to breathe through the heavy scent of cologne and alcohol. The idea of getting high did sound a bit tempting, Alex just wasn't in the mood to deal with any of that shit.
Rian groaned loudly, throwing his head back with displeasure filled in his eyes. "C'mon," he began, "it'll be fun! It's at Christopher's place in Brooklyn," he said.
Scoffing, Alex shook his head. "First of all," he started with a grimace, "who the fuck is Christopher, and why the fuck are you driving three hours for stupid party?" He looked at them with a puzzled expression. He was being down right hypocritical, and everyone knew this. It'd be a lie to say that Alex Gaskarth had never driven hours on end for one party. Usually, though, they were huge raves with hundreds of people. Nevertheless, he considered it to be the same thing.
Jack simply rolled his eyes at his friend. "You don't remember Chris Carmon from high school? The kid who got arrested for selling drugs on school property? The kid everyone called 'CC'?" He asked.
Alex quickly recalled the memory of a tall, dark, lanky kid with blue eyes. The thought of CC hadn't come up in quite a while, but CC was the type of guy you could never really forget - no matter how hard you tried. He was a down to earth type of person, as Alex recalled, and always kept quiet. The only time he ever really got into trouble was when he sold marijuana behind the gym and was seen by a kid named William. Of course, William had taken a picture of the dealing and reported it to the head principal. CC was kicked out of school for the rest of Senior year, forcing him to attend a reform school. He was sent to the place where all the troubled kids go - the ones who like to cause a riot and misbehave.
