Chapter 1 - Annika POV *edited*
"Anni, I've started a band..."
Wait-what? A band? I knew it was completely irrational but I couldn't help be hurt. "How could you, Luke! This was our dream together, both of ours!"
"Look Anni, I'm sorry- I just-I-I-" I could tell Luke was lost for words. I shook my head in disappointment despite the fact he couldn't even see me.
"You know what, Luke? Just don't talk to me for a while." My voice was eerily calm.
Pushing the end call button, I threw my phone across the room. It slammed into the far wall, and I feel my face crumple, sobs escaping me as I wrap my arms around my chest trying to hold myself together.
I didn't understand how he could do this... Growing up it was always our dream to start up a band together and now he has. Without me.
I'm not saying I was musically gifted or anything, quite the opposite really. Luke had always been the talented one out of us.
He and I would mess around at his house or mine, playing guitar and ad-libbing new lyrics for songs.
As the years went by I couldn't help but notice that he was a little bit more serious towards it than I was. I guess it really was always his dream. I was just tagging along for the ride...
Wiping the tears from my cheeks, I looked up into the mirror hanging on the opposite wall.
My sandy blonde hair was a mess- whatever wasn't pulled into a sloppy bun was falling into my face, sticking there. My mascara had run dark streaks down my face, and my light blue eyes, were now puffy and bloodshot.
Surely this was just an overreaction? If Luke truly was always more serious about the band idea than I was, who was I to try and stop him?
This was Luke's dream and he was now living it. What the hell was I thinking?
As I stated in the mirror I watched as a determined mask covered the broken expression I'd had previously.
I had to go fix this...

Luke POV
"Fûck!!" I let out a roar of frustration dragging my hand tightly through my hair. I knew I shouldn't have told her over the phone, but how could I not? She was relentless!
I began pacing across the room, my long legs covering the distance of the small basement quickly.
Michael and Calum stared at me with confused and shocked expressions. Their guitars lay forgotten on the floor.
"Mate, what's going on?" Calum questioned hesitantly. I let out another stream of swear words a number that would've caused my mother to wash my mouth out with soap.
"Woah, dude, calm down, what the hell is going on?" Mikey's face was pulled into a slight pout, his head tilted in confusion. I looked around the basement and sighed. This room had always been Anni and I's place to just sit and chill.
I unclenched my hands, which had fisted in my light hair. Letting out a final sigh, I plonked down into the lumpy couch. My mum had claimed she was going to throw the thing out but that was years ago and no one had ever bothered to. It simply just existed down here, it would be weird if someone changed it.
"You know that girl I told you about? Annika?"
"The one you don't shut up about?" Calum questioned, his thick eyebrows quirking up and down suggestively.
"I forgot to ask, is she hot?" Mikey said, his eyebrow dance mirroring Calum's. My eyes narrowed in annoyance.
"Don't even go there, Mikey. She's off limits- to both of you!" I warned poking my finger in both of their directions, playing the older brother role I always had.
