Chapter Fifteen

Spotting Calum, he smiles and sends a sly wink over which I blush at. Looking down and biting into my muffin I think,

Yeah, everything was okay. Actually, everything was going pretty damn well.

Megan POV

"T.G.I.F. T.G.I.F. T.G.I.F." I whoop, waving my arms like a mad man as I leave through the school gates. Soon enough I have everyone in hysterics and joining in with me. It was finally Friday and we had just been let out of class, and the group had decided to all go and grab pizza as a celebration of the weekends' final arrival. Oh, and did I mention that we had officially finished the school year? No? Well, WE OFFICIALY FINISHED THE SCHOOL YEAR, SUMMER HOLIDAYS BABY, WOOHOO!

But it wasn't all fun and games, before we headed out to get pizza, the boys had to have their second last band practice before their gig at the Arrandale Hotel tomorrow. All the boys were absolutely pumped for it but in different ways; Luke was happier than usual which was rubbing off on everyone else, Calum seemed the most nervous of the boys, because he was constantly twitching and fidgeting, and Mikey was, well, Mikey. He was his usual humorous self, making everyone laugh but I could see through his façade.

He was nervous, like all the boys, but he just seemed distracted. Every time all the girls, boys and Ashton hung out, and the conversation drifted away from him I could see him frown and click his tongue in annoyance. I was yet to figure out what he was so annoyed about.

Actually, mentioning Ashton, I had grown a lot closer to him over the past several days. After band practice we usually hung out, ate fatty foods (which were certainly not helping my recent fad of trying to lose weight) and just sat in my room or his and talked.

We chatted for hours, and it didn't necessarily have to be about anything of importance. It turns out that we have a lot more in common than I first realised. When I first met Ashton, almost a year ago, I didn't really pay much attention to him, other than to be the over-bearing, over-protective role of best friend of Anni in order to scare him into not hurting her. And we saw how well that turned out.

We have so much in common, that I was surprised to the fact that I didn't like him like that. But, we had already had that discussion, and we both agreed that we were like each-others siblings. Only a lot more open and trusting than my older brothers and I.

We both agreed on the same music taste, which happened to be a lot of Paramore and Coldplay, except I was into All Time Low more than Paramore. I had promised that by the time he was twenty, I would have made him into a die-hard ATL fan. He had simply laughed and shook his head when I said that.

Our past often came up in discussion, and we both opened up and told each other our previous experiences with self-harm, and more recently how we both planned on stopping. Despite our two year age gap, we were able to connect on a level that I didn't think possible.

Ashton thought I seemed a lot older than I was, whereas I saw him as a lot younger than he was. I often told him that he had that mental span of a four year old. I told him that now as we finally sat down in the pizza parlour and he had decided on having a chocolate milkshake for a drink.

"It's not my fault that they make absolutely incredible chocolate milkshakes here!" he disputes, when he sees me shaking my head at him in condescension as he orders it. I glance across the table to look at Mikey who is not-very-subtly staring at the two of us.

"Yeah, but who orders a freaking milkshake when they go out, at seventeen freaking years old? And, if you're going to get a milkshake, at least get a good flavour like caramel!" I argue, shoving Ashton's shoulder lightly.
