Chapter Eleven

“I am not hearing anything but your voice.”

I let struggle to keep a squeal in, he is just to… perfect. There must be something wrong, there always is.

“Don’t worry; I think you’re pretty beautiful too.”

You know what, he is perfect.

Anni POV

“Annika, I’m home!!” I hear a call from the front door,

“I’m in here!” I scream from my sprawled position on the lounge. After getting home from Megan’s twenty minutes ago, I hadn’t moved from this position, too overcome by the stress of today’s drama to get out of my school uniform or go upstairs.

“Why are you being such a couch potato?” I hear Aimee ask as she walks into the living room, plonking down beside me, bouncing the lounge so my head bounces up and slaps back down on the leather.

“Oi! Stop bouncing, I have a headache!”  I shout, clutching my already pounding head.

“Whoa, sorry, I’m just in a really good mood.” She says all too cheerily. I merely groan back at her,

“Well, can you take you and your good mood away from my pity party?”

She just laughs and continues to sit there bouncing back and forth on the lounge. I finally give in,

“Okay, what the frickity-frack are you so happy about-?” I barely finish the question before Aimee jumps in with an answer.

“I have a crush on someone, and you’re never going to guess who!” she squeals, clapping her hands together loudly, she apologises when she sees me flinching at the echoing sound.

“I can’t be bothered to guess, just tell me.” I growl at her childish antics, I guess this headache was beginning to get to me.

“No, you have to guess!”

“Aimee, don’t be such a child and just tell me!”

“Calm down, no need to get all pissy at me!”

“Ugh, sorry, I’ve just had a really long day.” I groan, already feeling bad for snapping at her.

“It’s fine. Anyway, the guy I like, well, I think he is perfect, I mean he is so dreamy and funny and nice and such an uncommon name-“

“Luke isn’t such an uncommon name, Aimee.” I say, cutting her off.

She just looks at me, shaking her head and laughing at me she replies to my statement with loud giggles,

“I don’t like Luke, silly. I like Ashton.”

Oh. My. Fucking. God. This. Can’t. Be. Happening.

“Ashton, as in, Ashton Irwin?” I ask weakly, hoping desperately that she was thinking of another Ashton. But luck just seemed to be in everyone’s favour but mine today, because she answers with the affirmative.

“Isn’t he just adorable? I mean his smile is so adorable and his giggle, I just die when he laughs!”

I cringe at what she says; it was exactly what I sounded like to Luke when I first started to like Ashton all those months ago. I don’t know how to react to Aimee’s new crush, so I awkwardly clamber up from my still lazed position.

“Umm, congratulations, I guess?” I say, unable to respond in any other way

“Thanks! I mean, I don’t know if he likes me back or anything…”
