Chapter 39: The ‘Bubble Gum’ Girls, Mary, Movies, and our Tree Overlords.
Lynsey’s POV:
Everyone was staring. Girls glaring. Guys pondering.
Basically every girl’s eyes were calling me a bitch, even the one’s who were holding hands with their boyfriends. Almost every guy’s face was looking between Ryan and I saying something like, ‘Really? Her?’.
I looked down at my feet, not being able to take all of the hate glares being thrown at me. I felt Ryan’s hand grasp tighter to mine, in hopes to comfort me. He apparently was seeing all of it as well. He gave me a sympathetic look as I peeked over at the only person in the hall that wasn't ragging on me, Ryan. I got over to my locker and disconnected my hand from his to get all of my first and second period books. As I was grabbing out my French textbook, Ryan came over and leaned on the locker next to mine. I looked up at him and smiled before I slammed my locker closed and stood up, he re-positioned himself and was standing in front of me with his right hand up on the orange lockers and his two binders in his other hand, carrying them ‘boy style’ by his hip. I bit at my lip and looked up at his ocean blue eyes. “I’m so sorry.” he whispered.
I shrugged at him, “It’s okay. Why do I care about what they think? I’m the one who has you, not them. Besides I would be sending out the bitch glare too if I saw you holding hands with some other girl when I wanted to be with you.”
He smirked down at me, “You aren't ‘some other girl’ though.”
I rolled my eyes as Ryan spun off of the lockers and grabbed my hand, dragging me to our first period class doing an amazing job at ignoring all of the looks from our peers. I, on the other hand, noticed.
“Good morning you two?” Mr. Zanardi’s eyes looked down at Ryan and my intertwined fingers, his voice containing many questions as to what was going on.
“Good morning!” we replied together, a little too over cheery.
Mr Zanardi sent us a questioning look before Ryan and I made our way into the classroom. We went over to Ryan’s desk in the empty classroom; we were quite early today. I set my books down and sat on the desk behind Ryan’s. He had turned and was killing me by looking up at me with his adorable smile. I played with my straight hair a little bit as Ryan spoke, “You looks beautiful as always.”
I pressed my lips together, trying to hide my smile away from his eyes, but I’m pretty sure he got me. He placed his hand gently on the desk I was sitting on and opened his mouth to speak…
“Oh my god! Lynsey!” Paris’s voice screamed through the room. I smiled down at Ryan and shook my head before turning my head to see Paris throwing her books down on her desk. “Lynsey!” she walked over and grabbed my arm, yanking me off of the desk and out the door. I was pulled over to Alex’s locker and Alex looked over at me with the largest smile.
“What?” I asked Alex, who continued to smile at me and sway back and forth as she hugged her books to her chest.
She just smiled at me, “What?” I tried again.
“You know what.” I jumped at the sound of Jen’s voice behind me. I turned around and saw that Jen and Kimmy were here to.
I, in fact, did have an idea as to what they were all grinning at me for.
“You’re dating Ryan!” Kimmy yelled. I couldn’t help but smile and stare down at my feet.
I was turned to face Alex again, “Yeah, and you didn’t tell us!”
