When I woke up the next morning, it was raining. I let Madi sleep in as long as she wanted. I walked outside and did my usual morning routine. I grabbed the com system and the satellite and stood on the highest piece of land I could find.

"Hey, guys. It's been 2,200 days since Praimfaya. How's it going up there? It's been safe for over a year now, but you haven't come down. Why? I found my own night blood and we've been together for five years now. Yesterday, I saw a ship that I thought was you, but it wasn't. It says it's an Eligius Corporation Ship. I tried to go and see them, but they never came out of their ship. I was gonna go today and see if they're there but-," I suddenly stopped when I heard rustling in the bushes nearby.

Out of all the animals Madi and I have hunted, this one made a different noise. I suddenly heard it come from the other side of me as well.

I ran as fast as I could back to the Rover, hopefully, to get supplies.  The ground beneath me turned to mush because of the mud, and every step I took began to feel weighted. I was so close now, but I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard the sound of a gun cocking.

We were not alone anymore.
