Zeke POV

Boom.

The ground shakes beneath the rover. I watch as a mixture of fire and smoke emit from the trees. The rover comes to a halt.

"Oh my god," Charmaine gasps.

"Clarke?" I shout. No answer. "Clarke!"

"They're gone," she sobs.

"No, Clarke. We don't know that. We don't even know if that's their ship." I say.

"Ya Clarke!" Madi tries to cheer her up. "And even if it is their ship, You said a super smart girl named Raven would be on that ship, that means she probably told everyone to get out of the ship before it was too late."

"Yes, and besides, we have to see if there are any survivors who need help," Charmaine argues.

Clarke chokes on her tears. "Okay. We'll tread on. I might have to leave you guys behind in case there are any survivors so they can get in the rover. Is that okay?"

"Fine by me," I say.

"Same for me!" Madi shouts.

I look over at Charmaine who is not happy with the idea of walking ten miles back to the ship. I give her daring eyes that intimidate her.

"Fine," Charmaine finally says.

Clarke hits the gas pedal and we reach speeds as fast as 70mph.

Clarke POV

Finally arriving at the scene of destruction, I let out a sigh I was unaware I was holding. I saw them.

I run out of the car and go get the survivors: I see Raven and Murphy at first.

"Zeke, Charmaine, Madi! Help me get everyone in the rover!"

They rush over. Zeke picks up Murphy, Madi and Charmaine take Raven.

I walk around until I finally find Emori, trapped under a piece of shrapnel.

"Guys! Help me lift this off of her!" It was too big for only me to carry.

After Zeke, Charmaine, and Madi buckle up Raven and Murphy in the car, they come over to help me.

"Ahhh!" I grunt as I lift the large piece of metal.

"Charmaine and Madi, get this girl to the Rover!" I was too much in a hurry to explain her name was Emori.

"Zeke look around for anyone else. There are two more boys and two more girls." He nods at me in understanding.

I continue to look around the site. I finally find Harper. I carry her bridal style to the Rover and buckle her in.

I see Zeke buckling in Monty.

"Clarke that's as many seats as we got in here," he tells me.

"There's the back," I retort.

"Okay," he shrugs his shoulders.

I watch as Madi and Charmaine are looking around the crash site.

"Hey over here!" I hear Charmaine shout.

I look where she's looking. It's Bellamy and Echo.

"I think they're dead," the words sting my heart as soon as I hear them come out of Madi's mouth.

I bend down and check for a pulse on Bellamy. It's faint, but it's there. A smile evolves on my face.

"No, Bellamy is alive," I tell Charmaine and Madi.

"His name's Bellamy?" Charmaine asks. I nod.

"Put him in the back of the Rover," I instruct.

I bend down and land a shaky hand on Echo's jugular vain.

"She's alive too. Zeke, take her to the Rover."

He nods and picks up Emori.

I turn to Madi. I stand up and put my hands on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry I have to make you walk back to the Eligius ship, but I'm the only doctor here, and I need to treat their wounds."
She nods in understanding. I bring her in for a hug and kiss her on the head.
"May we meet again," she says to me.
"May we meet again," I say back.

I turn to Zeke and Charmaine who have now joined Madi's side.

"To get back to the ship, just follow the clearing. If you're not back by tomorrow, I'll come get you guys, I promise."

"Are you sure you don't want someone to come with you? What if you need to do a surgery that requires two pairs of hands?" Zeke asks.

"Good idea. Charmaine, come with me," I say.

"Why me?" She asks.

"Because you have a steady hand.  I've seen the way you've held your gun. That's the stance of a surgeon." I explain. "Now, get in between the seats and squeeze in. We've got to hurry before their wounds get infected or worse." She runs towards the Rover and gets in.

"Zeke, take care of Madi. Madi, take care of Zeke."

They smile at me. "I'll see you guys soon or I'll send Charmaine back to come get you if I don't need any help. Got it?"

"Got it," they say in unison.
