PART 1

'THUMP'

'THUMP'

'THUMP'

Aeris let out a groan, the small dark-haired boy rolling onto his side, his legs getting tangled in the silky material of his purple comforter. Letting out another groan as the noise continued much to his dismay. Covering his face with a pillow, he pouted, if it was who he thought it was he was seriously gonna kill them this time.

Setting his feet down on the soft carpet of his bedroom, he padded across the room, popping his head out into the hall. His emerald eyes scanning the area quickly, before deeming it safe. Tiptoeing down the hall, he made it down the staircase, his eyes narrowing instantly at the site before him.

"Of course," he whined, chucking a stray pillow at the two wrestling teenage boys, one on the floor, his arms wrapped tightly around his twin brothers neck as they rolled across the floor. The pillow missing them completely as it flew straight over their heads, the twins too emersed in their wrestling match to even notice.

"Guys!" Aeris shouted, the boy on his tiptoes as he tried to gain their attention, despite the shouting and grunts that echoed across the spacious living room.

The shout usually worked but it seemed like this morning, Aeris was out of luck. Pouting he ignored them and turned towards the stairs, cupping his mouth as he shouted, "Aaron, Darren, and Derrick are fighting again!"

And that was all it took for the squabbling boys on the floor to stop pinning each other down, instantly separating as they finally noticed their distressed baby brother standing there, a disapproving look adorning his cherubic face.

"Oh sorry Ari, did we wake you up again?" the eldest twin, Darren asked with a smile as he leaned down to give the boy a kiss on the cheek on his journey towards the kitchen. His short auburn locks and pajamas in disarray as he rummaged through the pantry, Derrick doing the same, but not before ruffling Aeris's raven curls.

"Yes," Aeris answered them with a small pout as he followed them towards the kitchen, his stomach suddenly reminding him that he hadn't actually eaten dinner last night, well only if eating a couple slices of double chocolate fudge cake didn't count.

"I swear if I have to tell you one more time -" his oldest brother, Aaron, started as he stomped down the stairs, his work boots loud against the weathered mahogany of the wooden stairs.

He was Aeris's oldest brother and the boys' caretaker. After their parents had passed away in a freak car accident, he was all the young boys had and their only hope of not being sent to some underfunded foster care home somewhere out in the boonies. He worked for a large lumber processing company and often had to go on out of town business trips. Leaving the boys to watch themselves for a few days, or sometimes just a few hours.

"What do you mean? We've just started breakfast, do you not want any?" Darren internally smirked at his own wittiness, sending Aaron an innocent grin as Derrick pulled out the eggs and butter, heating up the pan.

"Right..." Aaron scoffed, setting his suitcase on the counter as he took a seat next to Aeris. Planting a kiss on the boy's forehead, "I would believe Ari any day over you two."

Aeris smiled at his older brother, loving the attention the male usually showered him with. What he was spoiled, what was so wrong with that?

_

The rest of the morning went on like usual, the twins bickering and Aaron chastizing them for it. Aeris eating a cupcake and a bit of egg and bacon before excusing himself to make his way back up the stairs to shower and get ready for school.

The warm water sliding over his hypersensitive skin as he stood under the showerhead, letting the soothing droplets calm his mind.

He felt unusually anxious and he couldn't understand why. It was like something big was going to happen though he couldn't pinpoint what. But he knew it had to have something to do with dreams he had been having, the dreams that had always left him gasping and in a cold sweat.

The dreams where he was running. Just running. Usually, through this clearing his eyes looking back occasionally, as his legs pushed him to run faster and faster. His expression one of horror, as if he was running from something dangerous, something that could destroy him.

Though last night was a bit different -

His feet hit the ground running. His breath coming out in pants as he pushed himself to go faster. Always faster. His eyes watching his back, as he continued to run ignoring the pain in his lungs, and the strong unforgiving wind blowing in his face.

He couldn't stop.

He wouldn't stop.

That was until he did. Letting out a small gasp as he stared in front of him, his eyes filled with fear as he instantly scrambled back, his hands grasping at the grass underneath him, as if it would save him from this nightmare.

Save him from the abnormally large white wolf that stood in front of him. Its onyx eyes piercing as it stood still, watching him. Then took a step forward, its large frame leaving the boy trembling in fear as he watched it come closer and closer. Until it was eye to eye with him, so close its breath fanned over his face. The boy silent as he quickly closed his eyes. Awaiting the inevitable.

This wolf was going to tear him apart.

Tear him to shreds then eat the pieces.
