Boarding off the plan, I slung my laptop bag tighter around my shoulders and listened to the announcement vibrating above me.

Belt 5.

There I would get my luggage. My eyes were weary from the lack of the sleep. When I had woken up, I had made up my mind to sleep in the flight, but all thanks to the person sitting next to me who had forgotten to bring his headphones. Being polite, I had even offered my headphones but he had looked at him as if I had done a crime.

Whatever.

Rubbing my fist against my closed eyes, I followed the directions to the belt 5 and waited for my luggage to come.

I should at least call Alina, but wouldn't it be early? She must be getting ready for the college, or still sleeping, as far as I knew her. How would she get to college?

College is within walking distance.

Yeah, but. I shook my head, endeavoring to shake off the worry laying behind them. It wasn't like she was all alone in Bangalore, and she couldn't handle herself. We were fighting for three weeks and she handled herself, or maybe it was just me. Being paranoid without her.

Catching the handle of the bag, I placed it in the upward direction and walked out of the airport, searching to see who had come to pick me up. I had called last night, informing I was coming back early. Dad had been defiant on my decision, telling me it was a matter of a week, but I couldn't handle a week without seeing mom.

Pacing my gaze back and forth, I found dad standing, making me chuckle. How different he looked standing among them in his formal suit. Forcing my amusement inside, I frowned as I walked forward to his side.

"What are you doing here, dad?" I mused and refused his chances of taking my bag. It was an almost empty bag. I was hoping to bring some clothes from here.

"Don't you like me here?" We weaved through the crowd, winding path to the parking lot.

Removing my headphones from the neck, I weaved the wire together. "I was expecting a driver."

Reaching the car, I placed my bag at the back along with my laptop bag and settled on the passenger seat.

"Isn't it cold here?" I asked, suddenly feeling coldness wrapping around me.

He chuckled and started the car.

"You came from Bangalore, that's why you're feeling cold in here."

I nodded, turned on the heater and settled back on my seat. "You didn't tell me why you bothered to come."

"I wasn't bothered." He side glanced at me.

I didn't ponder much on the topic, and stared out the window, gazed at the similar roads, the buildings I used to spend time with my friends, drinking late nights or traveling to Gurgaon for horse riding. An idea came to my mind. When Alina would be here, I would take her to the horse riding. She loved animals, and her birthday was coming nearer.

"How's mom?"

"She's good, more like excited to see you back. I haven't told Nisha yet." He smiled a bit.

"When will you talk to her?" I asked rudely. I had enough of his ignorance towards his own daughter. Yes, I agree what Nisha had done was wrong, but she didn't deserve what dad was doing to her. She realizes her mistakes and had enough of pain for them.
