1x03 - Being Around You

Andi's POV:
The party was great. I got to talk to some of my old teammates. The food was incredible.

Me, Cyrus, and Buffy went to sit down, holding our plates of food. Jonah went up onto the stage, well, to a microphone near the front, and started talking.

"I just wanted to speak for a little bit. You guys are all so amazing. You all have helped us achieve so much in our current season. But, there is one person here who truly stands out."

Here we go. He's going to call my name and make some huge scene or something. I noticed that I was smiling, and hoping he would call my name. Please call my name.

"That person is... Cyrus Goodman!"

Everyone started to look towards Cyrus and applaud. "Come up here, Cy-Guy!"

Cyrus stood up and walked to Jonah. "This guy is incredible! He's our first official fan, and every practice and game, he brings us everything we could possibly need. Food, drinks, sunscreen. So, let's give another big hand for Cyrus!!"

Everyone clapped again. The two did a bro hug. Buffy tapped me on the shoulder. "See that bro hug? I taught Cyrus that."

Cyrus came back. His cheeks were bright red. Was he embarrassed? Wait, no. He was blushing!

"Did you see that?" Cyrus said, ecstatic. "Jonah Beck singled me out!"

Why would he be blushing? Maybe he's just really happy.

"Hey, Andi. Me and Cyrus are getting tired. We're gonna go now." Buffy said.

"Okay. I'm going to stay a little longer." I waved goodbye as they left the cafe.

"Hey Andiman!" I turned back to see Jonah standing right next to me.

"Hey Jonah. How are you doing?"

"I'm doing great. How about you?"

"Great."

His expression got a little bit more serious. "Listen, I know I've been an awful friend. I only thought about myself, and I completely ruined our friendship."

"You didn't ruin it. We're still friends. I just needed some time by myself. You understand that, right?"

"Of course. And, I... umm..." He starts mumbling something under his breath.

"Could you say that again?"

"Andi, I really like being around you. I like talking to you. I like you."

"What are you saying?"

"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

Jonah Beck is asking you out! Play it right though. You don't want to seem too happy about it.

"Didn't you just break up with Amber?" I ask. "You moved on pretty fast."

"I broke up with Amber because she kept controlling me. But, I also broke up with her, because I liked you. You were such a better friend, and now, I want to be more than friends."

Alright, Andi. Now, say yes.

"Yes. I'll be your girlfriend."

"Really? That's great!"

We both hugged each other for only a few seconds, but it felt like forever. I wanted it to be forever.

I checked my phone. "Oh, wow. It's getting late. I better go now. See you later."

"See ya, Andiman."

I ran out the door with probably the biggest smile I've ever had. The thought was still echoing in my head. Jonah Beck was my boyfriend.
