Hermione sat up, it had been a horrible night. She hadn't slept at all, instead she sat up and thought about the previous events. Ginny was angry, which suprised Hermione, she was the last person Hermione thought would be horrified by their news. George hadn't said anything to Hermione since she mended his wound, he kissed her cheek, like he always did, and apparated to his room. Hermione wasn't annoyed by hs lack of words, she didn't feel like speaking.
It was 4 am, and Hermione was still awake. She sighed, grabbing her night gown, wrapping it around her thin frame, she pulled her hair up into a bun, small brown hairs failing to stay as she wished. She picked up her wand and shoved it in her pocket, she never left it, not many wizards did. Quietly, she creaked down stairs, apparting was too loud and she couldn't chance to cause any more irupptions in one day. Finally making down stairs, Hermione boiled some water "Silencio" She whispered as the kettle began to whistle. Something cracked, making Hermione shriek in a small cry of terror. She turned around, only to find Harry. She sighed "Why are you up so early?". He smiled, taking a place at the dining table "Couldn't sleep, you?"
"Same" She replied "Tea?".
He nodded "Please". She poured him a cup. 'Two sugars' She thought to herself, she knew him too well. She placed his, and her, mugs onto the oak table, taking the seat opposite him. She sighed, her finger circling the ring of the cup. Harry exhaled "Hermione, are you alr-"
"Yes" She said, she knew what he was going to say. She looked up "I just thought" She paused, laughing to herself. "What is it, Hermione?" Harry said, reaching for her hand "You can tell me". She felt the tears welling up in her eyes, finally release as she blinked "I just thought I could finally be happy" She sniffed. Harry sighed "You will be, and if that means being with George then so be it! If you truley love him, and he loves you, why should a little thing like last night break you apart?" Hermione shrugged. "You do love him, don't you?" Harry said, furrowing his brows. Hermione looked down at her cup "Ofcourse, I haven''t felt this way since Dr-"
"Ron" Harry inturrupted. He froze and looked at Hermione "Did you say Draco?". She nodded, weakily. Harry slumped in his chair "So you didn't truley love Ron". Hermione put her cup to her mouth, her lips pressing against its side. "Hermione?". She sighed "I loved him, yes".
"But...?"
"But as a friend" She said "Not like I felt for Draco"
"And now George?" Harry said, raising an eyebrow.
Hermione sighed "They are two completley different men" Hermion drew her wand from her pocket, waving it in the air "George" She said, drawing his picture in the air "Funny, goodlooking, sweet, charasmatic. A new, fresh relationship" She sighed "Then Draco" George's portrait disapeared, only to be replaced by a thin, blonde haired figure. Hermione leaned her head against her arm "That relationship was suprising, dangerous, mysterious. It just felt so...-"
"Wrong?"
"Alive" Hermione smiled "I thought I would never have that again"
"Until you met George?" Harry questioned.
Hermione sighed, picking up her mug and placing it at the sink. She turned around, her hands still leaning on the basin "They are two different people. Two different relationships"
Harry sighed, taking a gulp of his tea. Hermione knew what he was thinking, he doubted her theory. She leaned across the table, holding his hand loosely “I’m fine, all you need to worry about is Ginny”.
He smiled “Ok, you know things will work out between you too, eventually”. Hermione watched as Ginny stomped down the stairs, her frown not descending from Hermione’s presence “Come back to bed, Harry” She sulked. He sighed pushing himself off the chair, he looked back at Hermione.
“Eventually” She repeated. He nodded and followed Ginny up the stairs, giggling at each step. She stood up and slowly poured the tea away, it was still early and she decided to return to her bed.
The next morning, Molly made her signature breakfast: a full English. The smell of the sizzling sausages made itself to Hermione’s room. She sighed, she longed to go down, eat till she was stuffed and return to bed, but she couldn’t. No one had spoken since the previous events, and Hermione guessed no one was going to start now.
“If you’re wondering whether Ginny’s there, she isn’t” Hermione smiled as George crawled over her bed. She laughed as he tickled her. Finally calming down, Hermione rested her head on George’s stomach “So where is Ginny?”.
“Ginny and Harry went to see Cho, she just got married and we all missed because we were at Charlie’s anniversary dinner”.
Hermione sighed “Blimey, why is everyone getting married all of a sudden?”.
“Everyone’s at that age, plus everyone has met there ‘soul mates’ at Hogwarts” George said “Gets you thinking, doesn’t it?”.
Hermione’s eyes shot open. She rolled over “Do not propose, George”.
He laughed “I wasn’t, don’t look so worried! I was going to say, gets you thinking if we had never met, where would we be?”.
“I probably would have married a muggle, you know, keep close to my parents” Hermione wasn’t embarrassed by her choice, she always pictured living close to them.
“I haven’t met your parents yet” George laughed.
“Yes you have”
“Yes, but that was when you introduced my family to yours when you were dating Ron”. Hermione sighed, even that was a struggle.
“Did Draco ever meet-“
“No” Hermione sat up, pulling off her pj’s.
“I was just asking-“
“And I was just answering” Hermione said, pulling her clean clothes on.
“No need for the tone” Hermione didn’t rely, she just glared at him, but that only made him laugh, continuously.
George and Hermione, finally, decided to go down stairs. Silence fell as they entered the kitchen. George wrapped his arm around Hermione “Morning mum” He kissed her cheek “Dad”.
“Morning George!” He shook his hand roughly “Heard about the party last night”.
George and Hermione glanced at each other. He shook his head, sitting himself opposite her “Oh yeah, what did you hear dad?”.
“Yes, it was quite an eventful night” Hermione sighed as she looked up to see a very disgusted looking Ron. Hermione swallowed the lump in her throat.
“Have you told them, then George?” Ron laughed. Hermione hated this. She sighed, grabbing Molly’s hand, stopping her piling sausages on Ron’s plate. “What is it, dear?” Molly said worriedly.
“Yes” Hermione said “In fact things are brilliant” Hermione ignore Ron’s scoff. “Me and George, we are-“
“A couple?!” Molly and Arthur squealed.
George laughed “Yes”.
Molly and Arthur jumped up in the air, clapping their hands “We knew it!” Arthur yelled “Well I can’t think of anyone better!”.
“Yes, well” Molly said holding Hermione’s hands “You’re already part of the family!”.
Ron silenced the cheers by the smashing of his plate. Everybody stopped to see what was the matter. He stood up and glared at Hermione, storming off upstairs. Hermione sighed.
“No matter what he thinks at the moment” Arthur called “He’s just a bit stressed lately, Harry and him have to do one last exam in their Marauder course”.
Hermione nodded, it was understandable, but she knew he was angry with her still. She wanted to speak to him, she knew it would be for the best, but at this momment of time she was running late and silly arguments were not her main priority.
