Water

Endless water, that's what I see when I look out this car window. Holding my arrow head that is resting on my necklace, I fittle with it nervously. I always got nervous inside cars, but my cousin helped me get over it. "Cory okay, the ride is almost over, we just need to get off this bridge." says a voice to my left.

I turn to see Gena, she isn't really my cousin. Her dad is dating my aunt, but I don't know, I feel like she is from my past. I would be lying if I said I remembered much from the last nine months. I have been to a hospital many times, at least that's what I've been told. My aunt says that I always wake up in a hospital bed with stitches that were just sewn up.

I have fading scars all over my chest, arms, and legs. Most look like I survived animal attack. "Would you stop messing with that thing." Gena's voice said again.

I turned to face her, she was short with dark hair. She had the hair fall in front of her face a lot, she was really tan even though she stays inside all the time. 'just a little longer' I told myself trying keep myself calm, but it wasn't working. No matter what I said to myself I kept imagining the car getting rammed by an oncoming car and getting knocked off the bridge.

The car hit a bump on the bridge, out of instinct I reached down to my thumb. My fingers rested on a black styagion iron ring, that wrapped tightly around my finger.

I don't like remembering where it came from. I do remember a bit of my past. Everything bad happened after my birthday not too long ago.

It was a warm day, I was outside on a trampoline. My brother Michael was sitting on the side of the trampoline breathing heavy from jumping. "Hey Michael, want to see me do a back flip?" I said happily because I could finally land on my feet. "Ok" Michael said amused with me being happy. After flipping I turned to look at the window.

The sun was shining so bright that I could see my own reflection. There I was, rock skater style dirty blonde hair that was just above my eyes. Even from this distance I could see them so clearly, bright grey and blue.

I was a normal teen, I was five feet six inches tall. I was built like a wrestler, not as toned or workout ripped. In the reflection I could still see how pale I was, like the sun disliked me or something. "Cory, dad's home and he got cake" Stephen shouted from the back door snapping me back to reality. I did a little hop as I made my way to get off the trampoline. Michael was already behind Stephen, the moment he heard cake.

From there it wasn't bad, I got told happy birthday from my family and stuff. Although I hated sitting there retardedly as people sang happy birthday, I did it any way. After that the night seemed to sail by really quickly. I got to open presents which were: A few band T-shirts, A ps3 game, and other stuff that was probably great at the time.

"Ok bed time, because you have school tomorrow. Oh wait Cory you got one more gift" My dad said handing me a small box. I looked up to my dad and as I grabbed the box. "Thank you." I said. My dad was a tall lean man, he had many tattoos on him. Most of the tattoos were of names of people that meant a lot to him. On his left wrist there was a cresant moon with the name 'Artemis' that hung on the inside of his forearm.

I grabbed the box from him, I looked up at his smiling face. His face was tan, and hairless. He would never change his hair style, Short and faded. I turned to leave when I was stopped by question. " Well are you going to open it?"

"Oh right sorry" I opened the little box to see a little arrow head, with a neck chain through it. "Wow" I said unamused. "It was your mothers, she wanted me to give it to you" He said with a sigh that meant that he missed her. Those words angered me, so without thinking I threw it to the floor. "Well if it means so much to her, then why wasn't she here to give it to me herself? Better yet if we mean so much to her where is she? Huh?" I said in frustration. "You don't understand why she can't be with us. She..." I cut him off. "I understand she is worthless, and irresponsible. She doesn't love any of.." this time he cut me off "Don't talk about your mother like that, now get out of my sight now!" He turned, walked over to the sink and leaned over it in anger. Yet he seemed worried today, more than usual.
