Writers always talk about how they've changed. How their most recent pieces are infinitely better than their first. What no one ever talks about, though, is the process. The transition. What makes them evolve as authors. What pushes them so far over the edge that their words come flooding out of them, like a broken faucet. That's what intrigues me so much. I am fascinated by these transitions. Looking back over my works, not only have my writing capabilities improved, but when you read them, you can feel the pain. The love. The sorrow. The adoration. Every negative emotion I feel, and every positive one. However, what I've noticed is that my best works are the ones where I'm seething with emotion. Pain. Love. Those are my triggers. Opposites, yet one of the same. The best words are the ones that consume you to the point where your brain forces you to put them down on paper.
I suppose what I'm trying to get at is this: fellow writers, don't brush over the evolution. It's what binds you to your pieces. Embrace it wholeheartedly. It's the trademark of your humanity.
