Jade just sat back in her chair, "Well.i born to my parents, Lily, a doctor who helped with the soldiers in Afghanistan, and my dad David, a army officer based in Kabul. One day my dad was shot and my mom stitched him up, they fell in love yadda yadda yadda they had me." Jade had a quick bite of cheesecake before continuing.
"After I was born they moved to a townhouse and my dad retired from the army to become a teacher at a school, and my mom worked at the same school as a nurse. In fact she's still working there.
One day when I was about eight my dad had to go back to war, this time at a different city in Afganistan. He stayed there until I was about thirteen." Jade wiped a tear from her large eyes, "When his helo was shot down. I never even got to say goodbye to my Dad."
She felt tears slowly roll down her pale cheeks, but then she felt a hand brush the tears, "Hey Jade, it's ok. Let it out sweetheart, let it out."
When she finally calmed down she took a breath and continued with her story, "So after that my mom had it rough, she started drinking, dating, ans stopped working.
She's also dated several men. I liked some of them but this new guy. Oh this new guy!" She said tossing her head back, yelling slightly, not loud enough so that the whole cafe could hear, but just enough so she could prove her point.
Chris just smiled, "Oh trust me, ya don't have to say anymore. I get it. My mom was the same way when my dad left her."
Jade smiled, with a slight blush brushing her face, "Oh... Yeah I know. House of Cards and all." Jade moved some of the hair out of her face, "That's uh...thats actually my favorite song by you guys now that I bring it up!"
Chris smiled at her, "Really? That was one of the first songs I ever wrote! I think I was about fourteen when I wrote that song..." Chris looked out of the window thoughtfully up until he spoke again, "Speaking of which, I ment to ask you last night, how old are you?"
Jade just laughed, "I'm nineteen! I'm a junior in college actually!"
Chris's blue eyes widened as he took a sip out of his cup, "Really? I thought you would be around seventeen or something like that! You look really young! Speaking of which, do you know what you want to do for a career?"
As Jade finished the cheesecake she looked back up at him, "Well currently I'm a waitress at a diner near here! I recommend it! The pie is really good!"
Chris smiled as he too finished the cheesecake, "That's cool! I'll check it out!"
Jade covered her mouth suddenly, "I never told you what I want to do for a career I'm sorry!" She laughed at her own stupidity, "Well my major is graphic design so I want to do something with that. But I'm also doing a psychology minor. So I guess I either want to be a therapist or work in graphic design."
"That's cool!" Chris said after he finished the cappuccino, "I was never good at much in school, let alone art, but I hope that I'll be able to keep the band going until I can retire with a pretty good amount of money."
As he finished his sentence Jade got up and picked up the dishes they had. Chris stood up and grabbed them from her, "No Jade I'll take them it's ok!"
"Chris it is my job, let me do it." Jade said, taking them back and walking away, "I do this every morning and afternoon Monday through Friday. I can do it once on a Sunday!"
Chris just smiled and nodded, "Alright then Jade, alright." He then got a devilish smirk on his face, "Now you have to do something for me."
Jade walked over and looked at him, with a confused look on her face, "And what would that be?"
He hunched over, until he was at her height, "Well...."
