"Good morning!" a boisterous voice called out. "Beautiful weather we have today, don't we?"
Sting opened the balcony window, letting a huge gust of wind and a few scattered dried leaves come spiraling in. Rogue, Lector, and Frosch squinted their eyes shut as they felt the impact of the wind before hurriedly closing the window.
"What are you talking about?" Rogue raised an eyebrow.
Lector locked the window up and was equally confused by Sting's comments. "Sting-kun, there's an approaching typhoon. How can you call that beautiful weather?"
"Hm? T-There is?" Sting scratched the side of his cheek and grinned.
"You seem to be in a good mood this morning," Rogue said, deciding to exit the room and make his way to the dining room. "Did something happen?
"Fro wants to know, too~."
Sting smiled cheekily to himself. "I guess you can say that."
He looked up and once he saw the disgusted looks on Rogue and Lector's faces, a tick mark grew on his head and he started yelling at them. Why was it that whenever he said something, they always looked at him as if he was an abomination.
"What's with those looks?!"
"No, it's just rare for you to smile like that," Rogue answered but soon smiled. "So, what happened?"
"Not telling you."
Rogue eyed him and pulled at his cheeks. "So it's something that you can't even tell me, Lector, or Frosch?"
"Hey! Stop that!" Sting complained.
Lector grinned. "But man, Lucy's place sure is amazing!" he remarked as he flew around in circles. "Not only is everything so fancy but the beds had high-quality mattresses!"
"Fro thinks so, too~! Lucy even prepared clothes for us," Frosch thought back to last night where he wore a frog-like pajama.
"And the furniture looked really expensive," Rogue agreed. "I wonder how much she poured into this place. To think that she's only renting it to us for thirty-thousand jewels."
"Isn't she some rich princess?" Sting voiced. "I mean, I heard the Heartfilia family was pretty rich."
"That was in the past," Rogue hit him on the head. "Don't you remember that the Heartfilia family became a merchant family a while ago?"
"Lucy-san's the only member of the Heartfilia family now," Lector added.
"Huh?" Sting widened his eyes.
"Sting, I thought you knew this," Rogue shook his head and sighed.
"How was I supposed to know?" Sting murmured.
No matter what happened, she was always smiling. When Minerva beat her up, she still smiled and there was not a day where she never smiled. Only once did he see her cry but that was from tears of joy. Even now, she was always smiling. If they didn't already know about her past with Fairy Tail, he would think that not a single bad thing had ever happened to her.
"Anyway, don't bring it up," said Rogue.
"Who do you think I am?" Sting narrowed his eyes. "Of course I wouldn't bring that up. After all," he murmured. "Who would want to be reminded that their parents are dead."
Rogue looked at his partner and likewise, remained silent. The two knew the pain of losing a parent. Even after several years have passed, the pain still lingered. Having been reminded of it, the weather outside seemed to reflect the torment and angst in their hearts. They quickly snapped out of their thoughts as the scent of food lured them in. Sting sniffed the air and he quickly made haste to the dining room, Lector and Frosch flying right after him, drool already hanging from their mouths.
