A year had passed since the battle with Lucifer and with Sting traveling around the world in search of Lucy, everything seemed calm as if everything that had happened was but a peaceful dream. The mansion that Lucy had resided in was now covered with vines and moss and not a single soul was in sight. No one ever approached the mansion for they felt it best to leave it undisturbed.

But, within the deepest part of the mansion in the southern wing, there appeared a doorway with spiraling steps that led to an underground chamber. Making its way down the stairs was none other than Kyubey. Stepping quietly down the steps, it swished its tail and ears, the rings silently swaying by its side. The barrier that Lucy had set up was still in effect even after she was gone mostly because Kyubey had been supporting it.

Finally making its way down the steps it stepped into a large hall, the hall dark with no source of light with the exception of a few lanterns that glowed dimly. Standing before a door, it looked up at it.

"Myuu," Kyubey purred.

A complicated and intricate design of marks weaved its way across the door as the marks glowed a golden color. The door undid itself and with a few turns and clicks, the door opened slowly. Kyubey stepped in and once again, the door closed itself.

In the middle of the room was a glass cylindrical case, water encased in it, that was the main source of light in the mysterious and dark room. Kyubey sat down and looked up at it, its golden beaded eyes reflecting the glass encasement and the person that was inside it. Nothing less of adoration shone in its eyes.

The person's face was covered with a mechanism that had the same markings as the door. Then, the twelve zodiac keys which had been placed on the side began glowing and went to the mechanism, its keys glowing brightly as it encircled it and set itself into place. The red paper umbrella set in Caracole Island vanished and appeared before the glass encasement, glowing a red light. After many years, she was finally awakening. Her pale white skinned body floated in the glass, her long golden hair floating beside her.

The Lucy that they had all known was but a hollow vessel that the real one had made and it but only contained a fraction of the actual soul. She had never sacrificed herself in the first place. Her real body had been encased in this glass case the whole time from the very beginning, living and breathing yet unconscious but now, it was finally time. The glass cracked and in a moment, it shattered, the water within it gushing out and spilling across the floor.

Kyubey stepped to the side and lowered its head. "Myuu~"

Lucy stood there, dripping with water as her long hair swept across the ground in silky tangles, covering parts of her body. She stood still and almost lifeless but as she opened her eyes, a golden light of life sparkled in them, the rukh beginning to gather once more. She straightened herself and looked up. Pursing her lips, she mouthed the first name that had come to her mind.

"Sting."
