Caracole Island~
Per Lucy's orders, Loki, Virgo, and Capricorn were on Caracole Island for almost two weeks, looking around to sense any irregularities. Despite its small size compared to the many other countries, it was still considered large despite having been blown up in the previous wars. The three had decided to sense out where the Gate to the Land of the Dead could be but after weeks of searching, there was still no sign.
"Is it really here, Loki-sama?" Capricorn asked.
"Lucy said that it might be here but since she herself sensed it, it probably is," Loki answered.
"But doesn't the Gate move from time to time?" Virgo rejoined the two.
"Yeah. That's the problem," he said. "What if it had already moved and we were one step too late?"
"I wouldn't want to report back to Lucy-sama empty-handed though," Capricorn remarked.
"Exactly," Loki sighed.
"But nevertheless, we should continue searching," Virgo said. "Standing here and doing nothing would only waste our time. With the previous attack that had occurred at that mansion, I'm sure hime is anxious to find out."
Capricorn nodded its head. "If an undead really got out, it would be troublesome."
"First things first, we have to find the Gate. Let's split up once more."
The three nodded their heads and began looking once more through the barren land. Rocks and hills lined the area but in the distance, nothing seemed out of sight. Capricorn scanned the area for any imperfections while Loki threw boulders and rocks to the side, wondering if it could be hidden. Virgo dug herself into the ground, thinking it faster to look through the ground like that. With the three working effortlessly, they hurried to cover the area of Caracole Island and tell Lucy what they found.
There seems to be nothing, Virgo looked through but soon stopped as she hit something. "Ah."
Virgo came to an immediate halt in the ground as she stood there, staring at the object before her. But, rather than an object, it was more like a large white door with gold intricate patterns patterned over it. However, what she noticed wasn't the fact that the door was the Gate but rather, the impurity that was seeping out of it in the shape of black and purple thorns.
"Loki-niisama! Capricorn-sama!" she yelled.
The two immediately sped her way and realizing what she had found, the two widened their eyes in shock. The three paled at the horrific realization of what was happening. The Gate was being slowly forced upon and the undead were manifesting themselves, sneakily sliding its way into the outside world.
"This can't be happening..." Capricorn took a step back.
Loki grimaced himself as he glared at what was before him. "We have to report this back to Lucy-sama. Fast."
The three left Caracole Island and began heading back. With each passing second, the Gate was slowly being pried open and if it wasn't dealt with fast, the entire Land of the Dead would be brought up to the Land of the Living.
Lucy's Mansion~
With the end of the Fall Festival, bringing a closing to the autumn season, winter soon began approaching Fiore. Like usual, everything at Sabertooth was normal and fortunately, Fairy Tail hadn't been acting up lately since their loss in the Parade of the Guilds. Now, Sabertooth was finally seeing peace for once and for that, they were all relaxing in bliss.
"Now this is heaven," Sting sighed as he sat on the couch curled up in his blanket.
The morning was cold and even though the hearth was crackling and spreading warmth, the chill from the outside still leaked in through the windows ever so slightly. It was a weekend and having nothing else to do, Lucy, Sting, Rogue, Lector, and Frosch stayed within the mansion. During the winters, not many missions were available and it was during times like these, that they felt like they were on vacation.
