I shuffled my feet towards my friends. Gary was still hyperventilating over what Dr. Cory had just done.

"This is bullshit." I murmured.
James shrugged. "I kind of predicted this would happen. Dr. Cory is too nice."

I turned my head to look at her, who had no change in facial expression at all.
How could she react so normally when she just let them go?

For a minute, I dozed off until I heard a loud "OH!"

My eyes immediately darted to Ena, who was staring at something.
Everyone was staring at that thing too, and I turned 180 degrees to see what was so interesting.

"Please."
A wimpy voice proclaimed.

Wait what? My eyes landed on the guy who just spoke.

It was the kidnapped Eccentric King member, who stayed quiet the whole time during the questioning.
The one who also didn't complain when we insulted them.

He slowly walked as the academy students cleared the way for him. There were mutters erupting from every corner of the room.
The agents eyed him suspiciously, and I saw their hands flickering with magic.

They were ready to attack.

The guy suddenly stopped, then plop, right in the middle of all of us.
Dr. Cory stood in the front, with raised eyebrows.

His knees dropped to the ground and he did a full bow.
What is going on?

Everyone became silent.
"I ask to be a part of your plan. I want to help."

Huh? This dude...
"I have a family that lives here. I—I'm afraid I can't side with my fellow comrades on this one. I can't destroy this city..." He whimpered, crouching low and bawling like a little boy.

Dr. Cory still held a firm expression, almost as if she didn't believe in what he was saying.

She spoke up like a warrior before battle.
"Is that the only reason why you wanted to per say, help us? Tell us."

Dr. Cory continued talking. "What use would you be to us? Can you provide us with weapons of your kind? Ways to defeat them? If not, then take your leave. We won't be seeing you out."

To be honest, I felt intimidated a little bit.
The guy quickly wiped his tears away and regained his position on the floor.
He was now kneeling like a beggar.

"My name is Steven, and I'm the assistant developer of weapons."

Dr. Cory smirked a bit.
The first reaction she had all day.
"Oh?" She asked, clearly amused.

Steven continued.
"There's another guy in my crew who makes the weapons. I assist him with almost every weapon. I know how each one is made and how they function."

Lilliana stood up.
"So what? You know that much but what reason so you have to help us?"

Steven looked down at the ground and then suddenly glared at Lilliana dead in the eye.

He didn't look at me but I was still scared for her life.
"We have different beliefs. I wanted to use the power of the weapons for the better of humanity, but he wanted it to destroy the city."

"That makes no sense." I blurted out.
Unintentionally.
I mean, how could weapons create a better life for us all? It's just outrageous.

There was an awkward silence as he looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"Let me help you all."

Agent 3 narrowed his eyes.
"Are you aware that we plan on killing all of your comrades?"

Steven's face grew pale.
He hesitated.
"I am. But if I were to choose between a population of thousands of people, and my comrades, I'd save the majority."

I wrinkled my forehead as he pursed his lips.
"He's telling the truth." Dew spoke up as the agents nodded.

The murmurs stopped again as Dr. Cory dramatically walked up to Steven.
Man, this felt like a movie.

She extended her hand for him to grab and smiled.
"Welcome to the team."
