Talking Wall

"You aight?"
Gary nudged me on the arm.

It was morning in the academy again and everyone was giving me glances.
We didn't speak for a few minutes but I knew they were pitying me.

I hated that feeling.

"Soooo...." Steven broke the silence.
"I'm part of your team now right? Heh..."

No one moved a muscle.

"This team is quite lively in the mornings right? Does this happen every day?"
That sarcasm hit me hard in the stomach.

James cleared his throat.
"Well c'mon let's train. Steven, you start working with the agents."

He nodded and the rest of the students trotted along with James.
I sighed and tagged along with him.
What else can I do? I'm pretty sure I can't sulk all day long.

We separated and went our own pathways.
There were over about 70 separate rooms that we could train our individual abilities in.

Once you're in, the outside door will glow a red light, telling the others that that room isn't open for others.

It was a dome-like interior, with cream colored walls. The ground was a sort of brown rhombus tile flooring.

To be honest, the room always reminded me of a bathroom.
Other than that, it really is helpful in training.

I sat myself in the middle and stared at the blank walls.
What to do...?

I plopped both of my hands on both sides of the floor, and leaned back. The ceiling was cream colored too. Everything about this dome is cream or brown. Like a cake.

With a sigh, I got up and dusted myself.
Time to see how strong I still am.
Really haven't been doing those 500 pushups these days...

I cleared my throat and stood face to face with the wall.
"Scan." I commanded.

The wall flashed a glowing blue light and analyzed my body.

Welcome to the updated version of
The Dome.

I blinked at it a couple times.
Did they make some changes?
They were only supposed to activate and give me some weapons to practice with.

I've used this thing once while I was training in the beginning of the year.
But I'm pretty sure it didn't know how to speak.

"Weird.." I nodded.

The blue light scanned me again.

Welcome Steward Poo, would you like to see your labels?

I grumbled. Steward Poo? Updated my ass. Can't they update my new name too?
And the heck are labels?

"Sure..." I muttered tentatively.

The wall slowly revealed typed letters.
