[Chapter Four]
Milo wanted to believe that Harry was off in the Elysian Fields sharing in a wonderful life of what could have been and while he was happy for his little brother, he still missed Harry quite a bit. He was thankful to have his father around, something that he had longed for as well, but he knew it would be asking for too much if he could have both of them around at the same time, along with Lily. It was just so confusing in Milo's head because every time he turned to his brother to talk, he had to remind himself that it was, in fact, their father that he was speaking to. Ron wasn't the only one having a hard time adapting to Harry's absence, although everyone else seemed to be making the most of having James around again.
Elspeth, Sirius, and Remus were absolutely thrilled to spend time in his company, talking to him about childhood memories and such before the war brought about darker times. It was a little odd for them to be speaking to James while only seeing Harry's face, but they adjusted quickly because they knew that it was James. By the way he spoke, and carried himself, Harry bore similarities but there was quite the distinction to Prongs. They were happy and others shared similar reactions to having him there.
Such as Silas, who quite enjoyed James because he was an adult that wasn't easily offended and could take a joke ( at least, a lot better than Mad-Eye) so, they got along well. The twins absolutely adored James and with three of the four Marauders reunited, they two wanted to pick the brains of the founders of the Marauders Map and learn all of their secrets. After all, it was their final year at Hogwarts, along with Cedric's and Indra's, and they wanted to go out with a notable bang.
That was another thing to cross Milo's mind, it was Cedric's last year at Hogwarts and Milo still had a year to go. It was so odd for him to think of what Hogwarts was going to be like without seeing Cedric every day. At most, they would have every weekend that Milo was permitted to visit Hogsmeade, that would be more than what other distance relationships had, so he couldn't find himself complaining very much. But Milo realised his father was right, he really did have to make the most of the upcoming year because his seventh year would bring about a change that he wasn't necessarily prepared for at the moment.
All the while, Cedric was trying to get Milo to think of other things rather than focusing on the negative. Milo tried to distract himself with his creatures, he had Paden, Linet, and he even had Little Moony in his company in the Grimmauld Place, but sometimes it wasn't enough. He actually seemed happiest when his mother came to visit him at the Headquarters, that seemed to be what he was missing the most, he wanted to be around McGonagall. Cedric noticed the way James watched the interaction between the two because while the man probably wanted to act as a parent to Milo, it was hard for him to do such a thing when he was trapped in Harry's body. He had to keep an appearance that he was Harry Potter, the boy about to enter his fifth year of Hogwarts.
So Milo was turning to his mother, more than ever whenever she came to visit, but with the school term about to start up soon, she did find herself quite swamped with work. Not to mention, Dumbledore wasn't around because he was tending to matters of the Order that weren't being disclosed and preparing for "Harry's" trial. That meant that McGonagall had her duties at the castle while the man was away as she was Deputy Headmistress. As the trial was coming closer, Milo expressed his worries that it would result in trouble, mainly because he knew that Dumbledore was not pleased with what Sirius and Elspeth had done.
