[Chapter Twenty-Four]

James stood in Professor McGonagall's office with a stunned expression all over his face as Elspeth stood there, trying to explain what had happened, or at least, what she had witnessed on her end before Milo disappeared. The young father, trapped inside the boy of his youngest son, was fully prepared to go out and conduct his own search for his eldest. He did not need Milo getting hurt at all and had already summoned Artemis to the ranks to search. The problem was, even with the offer of sending out the Ceryneian Hind, she couldn't sense Milo's presence or Cedric's for that matter.

It was as if they had completely vanished into thin air from the earth.

"What do you mean?!" James screeched. "They can't just vanish like that, they can't just disappear-"

He went for the door, but all three women inside stopped him from leaving, including Elspeth as she placed herself in front of him.

"James, stop before you go out there and do something mental, just take a minute to think this through."

"El, there's no time to think! My son is out there and he is in possible danger! Regulus Black appears out of nowhere possessing my son and your son! Don't you think that means danger for them? Now Milo is gone and you all want me to sit around and hope that he comes back. No, I'm not going to do that-"

"You don't know what we're walking into!" Elspeth grabbed him by the shirt. "And if you don't recall, you're not in your own body to make any sort of sacrifice in the name of your sons. You are in Harry's body, you have to keep that in mind!"

James looked fully on the brinks of bursting as Elspeth held him in place, he continued to fight her, telling her to let him go, but she didn't budge as she continued to try and reason with him.

"Let go of me!" James shouted, finally shoving her hand away. "This is all your fault to begin with!"

The room fell silent as Elspeth looked positively stunned as she took a step back from him. Her lips parted in confusion at the accusation, wondering how it was her fault, as did Artemis and McGonagall as they stood in the background. She looked horrified that James would even suggest anything, that he would even come close to blaming her for what had happened when she hadn't even been in the same room.

But deep down, it had struck a chord with her, something she had tried to overcome for over a decade's times, but still found herself haunted by it all.

"Wh-what do you mean by that?" Elspeth whispered to him. " I didn't do anything-"

"It's all your fault that this has happened this way!" James yelled at her. "All of it. It's your fault that my boys are in danger constantly! You put them in that position as soon as you started steering Lily and me away from our soulmates. We were put into this situation and basically, our children were placed up to be slaughtered."
