[Chapter Ten]

By the time Milo woke up the morning of the trial, it was obvious that he was the last to stir from his slumber. As he glanced over, the other side of the bed was empty, signalling that Cedric was already awake and probably downstairs with everyone else. He could already hear that someone had managed to piss of Walburga's portrait as the woman's screeches could be heard all throughout the house. Letting out a heavy sigh, he rolled onto his back and rubbed his eyes before reaching out to grab his glasses. However, he was interrupted by a mighty chirp bringing him to look in the opposite direction, Paden and Linet were awake holding up his frames with expecting looks.

"Thank you," he smiled before carefully taking them and placing his glasses on, while the creatures crawled up his chest to sit before him. As soon as he propped his head up, Paden began delivering the news of the issue they were currently facing. According to the bowtruckle, there was a doxy loose in the room and it had attempted to attack them. They had been locked in by the heavy, more than likely jinxed door that even Paden could unlock, leaving them quite vulnerable as Milo slept. Luckily, the two had stayed close to the boy's side, using his size against the doxy.

Doxies were similar to faeries, however, they could be quite malicious when provoked and they had a nasty habit of biting. They also multiplied like rabbits and their bites were venomous, although painful, not exactly close to being fatal. But they were known to attack faeries and bowtruckles, often ripping faery wings and breaking the limbs of bowtruckles to feast on their wood-like features.

They somewhat resembled faeries within their appearance, only they were covered in dark, coarse hair that kept them warm in colder climates. Yet, they had beetle-like wings that weren't nearly as pretty as the ones that faeries had. They were considered nothing more than pests, except to those like Fred and George, who, Milo discovered, were using the doxy venom in their products, such as the Skiving Snackboxes. But that was a tale for another day, currently, Milo had to find the doxy that was attempting to hunt and attack and get rid of it before it hurt any of his creatures.

Lifting up his blanket, he checked it thoroughly before motioning Linet and Paden to crawl under while he investigated. The two slipped under, Paden's chirping faded as well as Linet's giggling as Milo stood up from the bed. He took a couple of steps away from the bed when he heard scratching noise and peered over his shoulder. It seemed to be coming from under one of the bed and he was sure that if he tried to move it, the doxy would more than likely dodge the capture. But Milo while thin, wasn't thin enough to fit under the low bed.

Thinking to himself for a minute, an idea finally came to mind.

Cedric was downstairs in the kitchen, talking to Bill and Tonks before Tonks had been whisked away by Moody to discuss Order matters or something along the lines of her Auror duties. Bill had been talking about how good it was to be home again, although he claimed to miss his job in Egypt quite a bit since he enjoyed the excitement of not knowing what the day would bring or what treasures would be found. However, when Cedric asked why he didn't stay in Egypt like how Charlie had stayed in Romania to do some recruiting, it didn't take an idiot to realise what was taking place.
