hello! this is the first installment of my POC series and it includes small blurbs with tom, sam, harry and harrison! i'm going to try to make them gender neutral too (i try really hard to be inclusive i'm sorry if i slip up sometimes). as a woman of color in the fandom, i see the lack of diversity in fandoms (also, saw @tomhollandandcouk's post ((link at bottom of page)) and it inspired me, i love u shu) and i want to try to remind others to be diverse/contribute to being more diverse as well! so let me know what you think :)

Dating Someone Who Is Mexican:

Tom

"Okay, and how do you pronounce his name?" I laughed, picking up the CD and showing it to him.

"Vee-cent-eh Fair-nan-dez." I pronounced his name, hearing Tom mutter it under his breath as he kept driving to my parent's house. He nodded, signaling he got it. "And who from my family likes Vicente Fernandez?"

"Your mom, your grandma, and your two aunts! Your Uncle on your mother's side does, too. Though, he'd never admit to it." I clapped as he parked on the street, a couple of houses away from my parent's. "Are you sure they'll like me?" I smiled at him, leaning in to kiss him.

"They'll love you – and not because you studied Spanish music, but because you love me. And I love you." Tom smiled at me.

"What's this called again?" I laughed at him again, American culture was new to him, so I couldn't blame him for trying to remember Mexican culture, too.

"It's called a 'carne asada', it's just another way of saying a 'barbecue' or a party." I shrugged, taking his hand in mine. "We like to be original, apparently." Tom laughed with me, picking up my hand and kissing the back of it. "Ready?" He smiled, nodding. "Let's go!" I excitedly got out of the car, rushing to grab Tom's hand and pull him along with me.

I hadn't seen this much of my family since my Quinceañera, them visiting for my parents' anniversary was very important to me – and Tom being available to come made it even more special. I knocked on the door, not waiting even a second before one of my cousins opened the door.

"Tía! Tu hija esta aquí!" She pulled me into a hug, laughing at my annoyed expression. "¿Y quien es este hombre muy guapo?" I smiled, pulling away from her and looking at Tom and extending my hand toward him.

"This is Tom. Mi novio. Tom, this is my cousin Estrella."

"It means 'star', nice to meet you, Tom." My cousin shook his hand, smiling at me. "El es precioso." I laughed, nodding as I looked back at him, seeing him give me a smile.

"Lo sé. Come on, there's a lot more than her." He smiled at Star, placing a hand around my waist.

"I couldn't tell," he looked behind us, then back at me, "did she like me?" I laughed, nodding and leaning in to kiss his cheek.

"She loved you. Let's go make everyone else love you, too."

Sam

"You've almost got it!" I laughed, feeling his hands tense up on my hip as he messed up another step. He groaned, letting go of me completely and throwing himself on the couch. I placed my hands on my hips, giving him a look. He pouted at me in return.

"Babe, this is useless," he sighed, running his hands over his face, "the music is too fast for me, I'm gonna look like an ass in front of your mom."

"Sam," I frowned, sitting next to him and rubbing his back, "you're putting too much thought into it – this dance is fun! You feel it in your feet, you don't think about it. You literally just have to follow your partner." I started the banda song from the beginning and stood up, pretending to be dancing with someone. "You just have to close your eyes," I closed my eyes, feeling the beat starting to pick up, "and go where the music takes you." I took a step back, moving my hips as I quickly took a step forward, my hips never ceasing. "It's like your hips don't lie." I opened my eyes to wink at him, teasing him for when I saw him trying to mimic Shakira with his brother only days before.
