I get out of the bed but my hand doesn’t let to walk away. I turn back and look at my catheter. I’m not a doctor but remove this thing I can. It doesn’t look difficult. And I’m success. Quickly I put on my shoes and take these papers. Oh God, if Wilmer saw them, I’m dead. No, no, no.

“Miss Lovato?” I hear a voice, which makes me turn around. There’s an elderly woman dressed in white. She looks sweet but right now I don’t care how she looks or who is she. “I’m Dr. Johnson. You should be laying in the bed.” She says calmly but I shake my head.

“No, I can’t.” I say and close my eyes. If Wilmer saw them, he thinks that he has a child or that I killed it. But it’s not true. I open my eyes and look around the room again. Don’t I have a phone or something?

“Miss Lovato, you’re very weak. We’re doing a lot of blood tests. You need rest.” She says but I shake my head. I don’t care what will happen to me, I have to explain everything to Wilmer. I can die after that.

I walk around the doctor and walk out of the room as soon as I can. She’s calling my name, but I walk faster and faster. I can’t stay any longer.

This can’t be happening. Everything was so good and now? What will happen now?

I don’t have the phone, keys or money. Fuck. Walking outside, I see a payphone. Yes, I will call someone. Rushing to the phone, I found a few coins in my pocket. Quickly I dial Marissa’s number and wait. She has to pick up. She can be my hero.

“Hey?” She finally answers.

“Hey. Can you pick me up from the hospital?” I say quickly.

“What happened?” She asks, confused.

“I’m okay, don’t worry. Please, take me, I will explain you everything later.”

“Sure.” See you there.”

I sigh and put the handset to its place, then I walk away. Sitting on the bench, I look up to the sky. The day isn’t sunny. Looks like it can start raining any minute. Well, it matches my situation because it’s also dark. I can start crying any time because I fucked everything up. I really did this time.

And no matter how much I don’t want that, the tears starts running down my cheeks…

-

I knock at the door but there is no answer. I do it again and again and again. Finally I decide to try to open the door and to my surprise it’s unlocked. Slowly, I walk in and look around. There’s a suitcase, my suitcase. There are also my phone, keys of my car and picture of me and Wilmer. Does he really want me to leave him? No, I can’t leave him. I’m nothing without him.

“Well, well well.” I immediately turn around as the voice reaches my ears. There’s Wilmer. He’s standing in front of me, he has a bottle in his hands, and he’s really drunk. Yes, he has read my card. He knows the truth. Oh my God.

“W-“ I start but he cuts me off.

“Don’t talk, Demi. Don’t.” He says and walks closer to me. “Your things are here, you take them and leave me, understand? I don’t want to see you ever again. My lawyer will send you divorce papers.” No, this can’t be happening.

“Let me explain.” I try but he starts laughing.

“What do you want to explain, huh? That you killed my child? You were  fucking pregnant, Demi. We could have a baby…. Or do we have a baby? Had you given that little angel to the foster house?” His words are breaking my heart but I can’t say anything. I’m like paralyzed. “ANSWER ME” He shouts and all I manage to do is shake my head.

He turns around and walks to the cupboard, where are a few photos of us. He stares at them for a moment but suddenly he grabs them and throws to the floor. Glass frame shatters into millions pieces, making me close my eyes. Now I really fucked everything up.

“You killed my child. And it’s bad enough but it’s not everything. My daughter isn’t with me because of you. It’s your fault that her mom is dead. It’s everything your fucking fault. I should never give you another chance. You were damaged from the day one and no one could fix it. I regret every moment with you.” He turns to me again and walks closer. I am afraid but I can’t move because my body is numb. He regrets everything what we had…

Suddenly he slaps me. He really does. Everything is happening like in slow motion. The pain reaches my nerves and I close my eyes. Ouch.

“I hate you” He whispers into my ear and steps back.

Despite the physical pain, mental pain is immense. He regrets me. He hates me. The tears start running down my cheeks like a waterfall. This is the end.

“Leave the fucking house or do I need to make you?” He asks angrily and I don’t say anything. I quickly turn around and grab my things.

As soon as I walk out of the house he shuts the door behind me. The tears are still running down my cheeks but it doesn’t stop me from walking. Step by step, I walk to my car, put the suitcase in and sat there. Fastening the seat belt, I look at the house for the last time. This house could be mine, but I ruined everything. I put my hands on the steering wheel and rest on head on them. I didn’t want to make everything like that. I didn’t kill the baby.

But it doesn’t matter anymore.

I angrily wipe the tears away and start the car. I can’t spend the rest of my life crying. It’s not the life I wanted.

I have to move on. I don’t know how, but I have to.

The car moves out of the yard. I don’t know where I’m driving, the only things I know is: my life will never be the same.
