"Ok, that wraps up the lesson for today. You can have the rest of the day for yourself, ok Kiara?" Said Nala smiling. "Thanks Mom" said Kiara. "I'll go find Kovu, he and daddy should be finished with kingly lessons by now. She ran down the steps, eager to spend time with the only lion that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Kovu.
"Ok Kovu now that you understand what responsibilities comes with being king, you can put your knowledge to the test. Tommorow evening all of the things you learned from January, you'll be tested on it, we shall see if you are qualified to be the next king of the Pride Lands." "Yes Simba I'll try my best, I'll make sure I pass." Simba caught sight of his daughter, judging  from the smile on her face, he could tell she  wanted to surprise Kovu. He turned his head and faced the waterhole. "BOO!" Shouted Kiara. Kovu didn't move a single muscle
"Hey, gasped Kiara how come you didn't get scared, I put a lot of effort into scaring you."
"It's easy, said Kovu you are too noisy, Kiara I swear from tommorow we are gonna start some serious training, and whether you want to do it or not, you'll be waking up at dawn. And I'm very serious." Kiara walked over to Kovu and nuzzled him tenderly, she hoped that her affection would change his mind, but sadly, Kovu was very firm in his decision. "Kiara, you can nuzzle me until the zebras come home, but my decision is final." Kiara pulled away and looked at the ground, Kovu saw her expression and realized that he must've hurt her in some way. "Hey, no need to get upset Ki, I just want your hunting skills to improve. I didn't mean to make you feel bad." "Kiara looked up in his soft, loving, emerald green eyes and smiled. " It's fine Kovu, I know you're looking out for me. And I love you for that." Kovu smiled. Kiara smiled back and they moved in for a hug. Simba watched this little scene and said,"Aww, my little girl is growing up so fast." Kiara was just about to retort, when they heard a scream. "Marisa!" Was the only word that escaped Kovu's mouth. He bolted to the place where Marisa's screams were the loudest. Simba and Kiara were hot on his heels. When the three reached the source of Marisa's screams, they were shocked at what they saw. A red maned lion, with grey eyes and brown fur was sitting on the grass, holding Marisa's head under the water. She was trashing around, desperate for oxygen. Kovu was furious. He ran to the lion and dragged him off of his sister. Kiara pulled Marisa's head out of the water and held her close. Simba was helping Kovu to fight the lion who was fighting like three  lions in one. The lion realized his chances of winning were zero. So he pushed off Simba, and scratched Kovu on his shoulder. Kovu screamed painfully and let go of the lion, who ran away as fast as he could.
While the fight was going on, Kiara was trying to revive Marisa who was unconscious resulting in the lack of air. Kovu tried to pick up Marisa but his shoulder was paining, a lot so Simba took Marisa and Kiara helped Kovu. The walk back to Pride Rock was long and tedious. Every few minutes Kiara would rest because of Kovu's weight. They eventually reached Pride Rock, and collapsed exhaustedly.
