Chapter 1 - Prologue

Great fanfic always starts off with some cliche from the original story as prologue.

- After an A-class mission of demons extermination -

"Thank you so much for saving our homeland from those demons, Vyera-san..." A bearded man who was the leader of the village, wrecked so badly by demons for the past months that only a few houses were left standing. The entire village inhabitants were at the village's entrance, ready to send off our main heroine, Vyera.

Vyera shook her head upon hearing his thanks, "No, it's only my job to terminate those demons for you... After all, this is a request to the guild and I have my rewards."

"But you are the only one who responded to our request... We will never forget your help. You are our savior."

Vyera could only smile in appreciation. "Good luck in rebuilding this village, everyone, I would love to come by again." She said, hugging some of the little girls who were quite attached to her during her stay and saying goodbyes before she headed off towards the port where the ship was waiting to bring her back to her hometown.

In this universe, some people are gifted to use magic, which often grant them capabilities far beyond those of normal people.  

This society of mages aligns themselves to different Magical Guilds, associations for mages that will mediate jobs and other information to mages. Mages won't be considered full-fledged until they work for a guild.  

Missions or sometimes called jobs were the requests to certain guilds from villages, people, towns and others. The missions could be anything, and once a mission was accomplished, the mage who took up the mission will receive a reward as the payment. Missions were also divided to few categories. The more difficult and dangerous it was, the higher the value of the rewards. 

A governing group, the Magic Council, watches over the Magical Guilds. They have declared Dark Guilds (guilds that have committed crimes against society or have done things that go against Guild rules such as accepting assassination quests) banned.

As what was mentioned above, that is what this fanfic is all about. All of you would have known by now, seeing how popular this story is when it was re-edited.

Vyera was a mage from Fairy Tail guild, located in Magnolia Town in Fiore Kingdom. She had just finished up her solo mission and was heading back to the guild.

The village was on an island far away from other continents. It took a week to go back and forth by ship and hardly accessible by other means.

Vyera stood by the side of the void deck, where the gentle wind was blowing. She couldn't stand the stuffiness of the inner deck and had to come up to the void deck whenever she was not asleep in her designated room.

"Man... It had been 2 months since I was home.I miss everyone, especially him..." She whispered to herself while admiring the vast sea. 

The sailors suddenly ran around and shouting that the island was in view and everyone should get ready to disembark. 

"... Seems like we are reaching, right Ice?" She turned to her right to face a white baby fox with a Fairy Tail mark on his back, sitting gracefully despite the rocking of the ship.
