Chapter Twenty-Nine: Names

We left Dr. Matterson's office and started our way back to my parent's house as we were going to take care of my mother. We sat down in the living room and told my parents that yes, I was defiantly pregnant and that the baby looks good so far and that everything looks normal. My parents were so excited to hear the great news. "Baby girl I knew you were pregnant." "I know mama, you called it." "So, could they tell you your due date?"

"Yes, mama it will be April 20th" "Oh my god, that is so good, Wait, Re-Anne seriously?" "What mama?" "4/20 Re-Anne?" I turned to Charlie and said, "You see!!?" "mama knows what's up!" Charlie just rolled his eyes like whatever. "Have you picked out names yet?" "Mother, we just found out our due date, we still have 34 weeks to figure out a name." "Re-Anne, 34 weeks will come by fast." "Ok mama we will figure out a name."

"Hey baby girl, let's take a drive to the home site?" "Ok, my love let's go check out where our new house is going to be built." "Mama will you be ok?" "Of course, baby girl your dad is outside." "Ok mama we will be right back." We drove out to New Paltz, NY which isn't far from Kingston. We drove out to the address that we were given by our realtor. We saw many newly constructed homes. We turned the corner and saw our new home being built. We saw that it had the frame-up. We got out of our car and took a tour of the house and took many pictures. We were excited to see our first home being built.

We drove back to my parent's house and on the way home, I started to ask Charlie about what names he would like to name our baby. "Sweetie, have you thought about any names?" "My love If it is a boy I would love to have his middle name my father's name." "So, Alexander as a middle name?" "yes, my love, if it is a girl we can have her middle name as yours, Valeria." Valeria is my mother's first name but it is also my middle name.

We got back and my parent's house and my parents were both asleep taking naps on the couch. They looked so cute cuddled together. I hope that one day Charlie and I look as cute as they are. We made our way to my old room so we can google baby names. I've always liked the name, Orion. Charlie liked that name. I guess it was easier than I thought. I think that Charlie already knew not to argue with me. He got his choice first but I wanted our children to have two middle names.

I turned to Charlie and told him "If we have a boy we are going to name, Orion Elijah Alexander Abernathy" "Baby girl I really like that name." "So, you aren't going to fight with me about the name?" "My love I'm not going to fight or argue with you I love that name." "I don't know the name we can choose for a girl?"

We searched on several baby websites for a girl's name. Charlie chose the name Hailey Rose Valeria Abernathy. I loved it. I can't wait to find out if we are going to have a boy or a girl. We have another doctor's appointment in two weeks. It seemed really quick but my hormone levels were really high. So he wanted to see me back in two weeks to do more tests.

This week at my parent's house went by really fast and my mother was recovering very nicely and looked better than before. I guess teaching was really stressing her out. She is enjoying the retired life. I know she will miss being a professor but she needs to take care of herself. I want her to see and play with her grandchildren. Oh my god did I just say grandchildren as in multiple children? I guess so, I'm so happy with our bundle of joy.

We drove back to Providence so I can continue my last semester. I didn't do any of my homework nor did I check my email. I know I was supposed to keep up with my homework, but I was too busy taking care of my mother. I know not a good excuse and not a time to start slacking off. I am almost done with school.

We got back to our home in Providence and I sat on the couch and started to cry and cry. Charlie ran over to me. He started to pull on my arms and legs. I looked at him like he was crazy, naturally, I stopped crying. When he was done pulling on me, I asked him "What are you doing?" "Baby girl are you ok, are you hurt?" "No, my love my not physically hurt." "I'm crying because I'm almost done with school and I don't know what I'm going to do with myself afterward."

"My love I don't want to be a stay at home mom. This is not what I thought I'd be doing at 21. Charlie looked at me with so much concern and love in his eyes and told me "Baby girl, you don't have to worry about our baby and our children, I will be a stay at home dad." I gave him a confused look "But my love you want to go back to school and be a lawyer." "sweetheart we can wait till we are more settled I don't have to go back to school immediately. I can also take online courses." "Your right I'm just overthinking and crying for no reason." "I love you Re-Anne Valeria Lewis Abernathy." "I love you too, Charles Edward Abernathy."

Dr. Matterson walked into the examination room "Re-Anne, Charlie?" He held out his hand for use to shake it. Dr. Matterson stated that I was officially eight weeks pregnant. He said that we can have our first sonogram. At my last visit, I had vaginal sonogram which didn't feel good at all. Dr. Matterson left the examination room and let the technician do the sonogram and she took some measurements. We were so excited but couldn't tell what the sonogram was showing, it looked all fuzzy.

The technician left with the sonogram machine and told me to clean up my stomach and that Dr. Matterson was going to come back to talk to us. Charlie cleaned up my stomach because he was that kind of loving fiancé. Dr. Matterson came back in the room and said "Well mommy and daddy, I have big news for you. You're having twins!"
