I groaned as the morning light shone through my room, prodding me to wake up. Ugg, I had forgotten to close the blinds before going to bed. At this rate, I'll never be able to sleep in. It's been a few weeks since the Neverseen were locked away and peace was spread out around the valley. I never knew how much stress I was feeling until the weight had been taken off my chest. I was such a relief when we finally defeated the Neverseen. However, many did fall, and the Wanderling forest grew more the past couple of years than it did in the entire Elvin history.
I stretched and walked over to my mirror Vertina. I fixed my hair while ignoring all the insults that Vertina shot at me, along with some fashion tips.
I put on my Foxfire uniform and stumbled down the stairs. I had always been a klutz. Sandor had to help me down so I wouldn't fall. Edaline's fresh mallowmelts wafted through the house. I quickly walked over to the kitchen to find the source of the delectable smell. When I got to the kitchen, on the counter was a plate of fresh mallowmelts and a note from Edaline:
Good morning Sophie! Me and Grady have a bunch of new animals today so we are going to be very busy for the next few days. Love you!
-Mom
I ate some mallowmelt before checking the time. Shoot! I only had 5 minutes to get to school. I quickly grabbed all my stuff and shouted "FOXFIRE" before being whisked away by the light.
