"I can't lose another Rahn."
"She was a great person but leave the dead alone."
"It is my fault."
"There is no one to blame here."
"I wish you would tell the truth Rahn. If anyone's to blame it is."
"Her for not realizing her powers back lash."
"Don't blame the unknowing."
I couldn't open my eyes but my hand twitched slightly as I touched the place I usually kept my gun. When my hand just touched my side I felt like crying and I felt I single tear run down my check. This was not the real world it was an opposite reality that put me far away from the one friend who had tried to take me to a higher place. With a choking sob I felt pain race through my tired body. The voices stopped and I was left in quiet before something propped me up. Then the bed I was laying moved down as two bodies sat down on either side of me one lighter than the other.
I cried and cried until I had nothing left then opened them to find myself in a guest room reserved for me. Rahn was laying beside my leg and Victor sat looking over my head. I wanted to throw up but nothing was in my stomach to give. My head felt light and my back tingled with all the pain I felt in my limbs.
"Thank the ancestors you're alive." Victor said giving me a giant hug. I gagged again but he didn't let go of me. "Your heart stopped beating for almost an hour the first time. Amanda got it going again but that was all she could do then you stopped breathing. Jerry and Rahn both saved during those times. I tried to give you blood but you nullified or rejected it every time. Amanda cried you know." he pulled back and I could swear he looked totally different then usual. Young and handsome only touched the tip of his change.
"You missed the dance and Clyde has gone back to his lands." Rahn said quietly from his side. Clyde I had to tell them about Clyde before it was too late.
I went to speak but all that happened was a small squeak that escaped from my throat. "Water?" Rahn guessed.
"Wait a moment." Victor said going over to the stand beside the bed. I shook my head and tried to speak again only to hear a small rasp of a voice. "Here." he handed me a glass of water and his image blurred. Victor looked like he did when I first met him then he turned back into the younger version.
I took the glass and looked at Rahn and his image blurred to him as a man sitting on the edge of the bed looking out the window. A look of sorrow on his face. I weakly tossed the water on my face swallowing a little to clear my voice. It was cool and seemed to alleviate some of the pain I felt. "Clyde is not friend." I stated flat out.
"What are you talking about he is in an alliance with me and another. Allen has been chased out while his dragon recovers from whatever you did to it." Victor said with a look of disbelief.
"What did you see?" Rahn asked putting his face close to mine.
"Don't understand but Amanda was hurt by him. Is evil man." I said.
"Leave." Rahn commanded. Victor looked upset but complied without question Rahn barely waited for the door to close when he shifted into his normal form of a human. "Forgive me." I didn't even blink before he kissed me. It wasn't gentle but neither was it forced and it lasted all of three seconds.
I couldn't resist but I waited for the explanation that was bound to come. It never came instead the man called Rahn transformed into a cat and blended into the darkness. I would have thrown a fit if I had not passed out. I woke up a short while after and was panting from lack of breath.
