"Well?" A door slammed as the sound of the mans voice carried in the room.

"Sir I can say that I've killed this girl at least five times by ordinary means but she can't die. I cut off her head and as soon as I turned around it was back on and hardened so I couldn't cut it off any more. It is starting to freak me out. No creature has ever done this kind of regeneration before and she doesn't even use magic to regenerate. You sure she isn't from your world, your majesty?" It was a woman's voice but it was tinged with an edge that made one shiver.

"Yes only one can pass through the void at a time and that one is up in my castle quarters. I'll have to kill her before she thinks she can take over. I did it with the last one."

"Yeah and the one before that. What about this girl then? She could very well take your throne like it was the natural thing to do. Something doesnt seem right about her."

"Is my lead scientist backing out of the experiment of a lifetime?"

"No sir."

"Good you will continue later for now we need to get back to the meeting up in the Blue room." Two sets of footsteps headed to the door that let out a low scream as it opened and shut.

I woke from my sleep and stared at the wall my face was turned to and let out a tense breath. That conversation had stirred me to protect Amanda but my body was still trying to cope with the energy drain. My sight was limited in the dark but small glowing objects lined the wall. In the dim light I looked at my hands and saw them bound by leather straps along with my mid body and legs. "Death I need your help." I said in a raspy almost mute voice. Death was one of the first demons I made friends with in the land of shadows. He was one of the lower listed demons but his power was ranked high enough to give him the title of 9 in the shadow realm. Death didn't like his powers though and refused any jobs given to him causing him to be listed low.

Titles in the demon world worked like monster levels in games. Only ranks only went to ten in the demon world. Ones were the demons that lived uselessly in the upper world and a ten would be me. The list only determined who was most qualified to lead.

Death slowly appeared beside the table I was on and looked at me with furrowed brows and sad puppy eyes. His appearance was that of a small boy around the age of seven with two small horns on his head. His eyes were two different colors a brown for his left and a blue for his right. With soft brown hair I treated him like a little brother when I wasn't busy. "Hey bud." I said weakly.

He wandered over to a counter and I heard the soft cling of glasses before he wandered back over holding a glass of water. I drank greedily and felt some drip down my chin. He threw the glass back behind him and worked on my bindings. "You're always getting into trouble." the little boy grumbled with an adult voice deep and warm.

"I know that's why I have you." I smiled leaning up. My head was light and strangely clear unlike my groggy body. Swinging my legs off the side of the table I let my body weight slowly rest on my legs. Then in slow motion I stood using the table for balance. It always took awhile to recover.

"Funny but how are we going to escape?" Death asked as he helped me walk over to the door.

"Through the door." I said opening the screaming door and proceeded out into the hall. It was empty and no body seemed to be coming. I was recharging my energy quite quickly though allowing me to stand on my own. Death grew too going until he hit his adult form which was still cute until you got to the horns. The horns were bone white and curled out of his skull down to the back of his neck. He wore black robes and was taller than six foot.

"Okay genius which door this time?" he smirked. I gave him a hug and focused my mind on searching for any life. Finding none I played the guessing game while letting the demon go. I always liked hugging the demon because my mind always seemed to become sharper from his contact. Maybe that was the true power he held behind his pale skin.

"Well I would say left.." I trailed off as a mind touched mine. I went to touch it but it retreated so I chased after it down the hall.

"Wait Emily!" I heard Death yell as he chased after me in the dark halls. I knew he would be able to follow me so I pressed on following the presence until I hit a wall. Death walked up and made a motion so I backed up and covered my face. He blasted the wall down with his fist and whistled. "Opps I think I might have overdone it."

I waited for awhile but no other minds came to figure out what the blast had been. "We have to hurry." I said worrying about Amanda. Continuing my chase I found myself in utter black with nothing but the mind as a guide. My hand grasped Deaths and we were lead on into the dark. The ceiling lowered steadily and I was forced to hunch over. Death went to his smaller form to save himself trouble. Why he switched forms was a mystery to me but I was starting to think he had separate forms so he didn't look threatening.

"A light." Death said pulling me with him. I held tight to the small hand and found myself outside a heavy stone door. Turning Death turned back to his large form and placed me to the right. I stood still as he pulled the door open and let the light flow in. I felt the mind disappear and I wandered inside as my eyes adjusted.

Inside the new room was a giant glass ball about twenty to thirty feet in diameter. It glowed a bright white but was swirling with colors of all kinds. I wandered over to it while Death sat over by the door I came through. My hand touched the glass and found it cool to the touch. I looked up and saw a face looking back at me. It had dazzling blue eyes and long blond hair with only a white dress on her fair body. A child with long ears that went back to her head in the back.

She was definitely fae but what was she doing in Atlantis? I let my hand slide off the glass and return to my side. "Who are you?" I asked through the mind.
