"Oh you're up. I uh just went to get a breath of fresh air hope I didn't wake you." he said walking like a zombie over to his seat in the corner of the room.

"No I woke up to a different noise. Are you okay?" I said softly leaning up so I could see him better.

"Nothing a little sleep can't fix." he rested his head on the back of the chair.

"I will stay up if you want to get some shut eye." I said touching the cool floor with my bare feet. When I had changed was beyond me I just hoped that Jerry hadn't done it. That would just be humiliating. Tattoos on my arm shifted as they came into contact with the moonlight and I found my arm covering my chest. That was were Death was, over my heart that was exposed due to the low coverage of the nightgown I was wearing. "Please tell me you didn't put this on me." I sighed.

"The nightgown? Who else would have done it?" Jerry said without any emotion.

"You... You pervert!" I yelled throwing a pillow at him. My face was on fire and I couldn't even look at him anymore. Pulling a blanket off the bed I wrapped it around myself thinking I might be able to cover myself. Instead it made me feel as if it allowed Jerry to see right through me. "Did you see anything?" I muttered.

"Nothing that excited me. Are you smaller than Amanda?" Jerry asked.

I glared at him and marched over prepared to hit him for being the scum of the earth. He looked worse than I thought he would and my anger quickly turned into concern. His sun kissed skin was pale and his eyes had lost the gleam they once held. His body betrayed his will and shook like jelly that wasn't yet set. "Jerry!" I took his hand and found it cold. "Is it him?"

"I am fine Emily go back to bed." he closed his eyes as a wave of pain hit him. When Jerry's eyes opened they were the red I had seen so many times in Victors eyes.

"You need to lie down and let this pass." I grabbed his arm thinking I could lift him out of the chair. My plan failed and we collapsed onto the floor with Jerry on top of me. I wiggled trying to get free but he was a lot heavier than I thought. "Death." I said summoning the demon to help.

"I find that I always have to free you. Can't we find something better to do with my talents besides lifting and breaking things?" Death said while hovering over me in his adult form.

I blushed and cleared my throat. "Just get him onto the bed will you."

"This is a new low." Death said going to pick up Jerry by the collar. His arm was pushed away while a heavy breathing Jerry struggled to his knees. I turned onto my back and found my gaze meeting glossy gold eyes that showed an inner struggle. His body was so close to mine but yet he was so far away from me. Why couldn't I touch him?

My hand moved by itself as it reached out towards Jerry's face wanting to touch the part I could reach. My lips mouthed his full name but no voice said it aloud. I was less than an inch away when Jerry closed his eyes and with a grunt managed to get on his feet. I let my hand hang in the air before standing up myself.

Death had sat down comfortably in the chair crossing his legs while resting his head on his hand. A smirk appeared on his face that made me want to punch him but I clenched my fist suppressing my ill will. I turned to see Jerry staggering over to the door in an attempt to leave. "Where are you going!" I said putting my foot down with a slight slapping sound.

"Outside. Need fresh air." he toppled but managed to catch himself before I could go to help. I walked up behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You need rest."

He shrugged my hand off and twisted the doorknob. His hand shook and he let go with a sigh, he punched the door with a strength I didn't know he had in his weakened state. "I won't let myself hurt you."
