My days at the start of the war were long and consisted of watching and sleeping with the occasional training. Jerry went above to the surface to help his brother in the battles that raged on at the border between the resistance and Atlantian fronts. I was just the security in case they managed to break through and invade the smaller villages. Of course that meant I couldn't leave the base unless it was necessary. Rahn remained oblivious to the powers I had finally awakened to so Death and I kept silent about everything we planned for the future. In my case I felt regret at the plans but in the end I could think of no other way to keep the peace besides destroying the planet and as I was told repeatedly by Quicksilver, it was "a bit extreme". This boring life though was put to a halt pretty soon though by the invasion of a second army.

"Rahn!" I yelled out the door as a crystal displayed a red warning light. "We have a situation at the mountain pass."

"No way quit yanking my leg!" Rahn yelled back.

"Let me see." Death said leaning over my shoulder scaring me stiff.

"Here, the image is foggy I'll open a portal." I focused carefully and watched a portal open behind us. "It will come back in five minutes so make sure to finish the job quickly." Death gave a slight nod and disappeared into the black followed by Rahn who didn't even wait for me to give permission. I then waited in silence for someone to fix the connection in the crystal but instead the image disappeared completely and in a panic I opened the portal again. No one answered when I called so I stuck my head through only to be forced back in by a bloody body.

Saliva fell onto my check and I found myself pinned to the floor by the sheer weight of whatever was on top of me. My knee went into its stomach but pain had no effect on it. I closed the portal before anymore could follow it through crushing a head off a another. It rolled over so I could see a portion of its head, the head belonged to a large reptile that closely resembled a dragon without horns. A gruesome growl/moan sounded from above me and I managed to flip it over so I was freed from its grasp. It seemed to be a creature not to far from the image of Jerry.

The armor extended its fingers into dangerous claws and elongated the face to look like the creature I had decapitated. The smell it carried was like death itself causing me to gag. It was tall yet not as heavily built making it female yet no hair could be seen. Blood dripped onto the floor in great drops of red and dark green from the severed head. It shifted slightly obviously in pain from what I couldn't tell for the armor covered all signs of skin and darkened the face.

I stood slowly backing up towards the door hoping to find something to knock her out with. Nothing happened for a minute then as a puppet would rise on its strings the armored woman slowly and strangely got to her feet while her head hung back as if it were broken. She was an undead from Bartholomew's army. The only way to kill them was to remove the head or cut the string of magic they used as a source of life in their undead state. The woman hobbled over towards me gaining momentum as she did causing me to be cornered with no escape besides the door that seemed so far away at the moment.

Managing to allude her in the first charge I stood on the crystal viewing table thinking I would have the advantage over her. I was wrong, for she drew her sword as her neck snapped back into place. I wished Quicksilver was here because he could see the strings that were attached to the woman. I heard a cackle as she ran with lightning speed towards me sword ready to swing. My body responded by jumping over her head but didn't quite clear resulting in me falling on my face and the attacker landing beneath my legs. She got up first while I rolled onto my back hoping and praying that she wasn't to quick. The impact must have had some effect because the undead slowly bent to pick up its sword.

I sprung up behind her placing my hands on either side of her helmet and twisting for all I was worth. The head came off with a faint popping sound and lots of blood for it was already partially severed. I dropped it and resisted the bile crawling up my throat. The body followed it later but the blood flow was slow making the puddles on the floor grow slowly. That was going to be a mess to clean up, I thought as I shut the door behind me. I let myself lean back against the wall slowly falling to hug my knees in hope to keep the world from spinning around me. It was almost like the first time I got drunk with my body shaking, the urge to puke, and the world seemingly dancing around me.
