If I could remember all of the story Amanda told me the only one I could be was the one born from the sky. Be that as it may I always thought I'd be the one born of mind or I guess Rahn. This was too much for me to handle and I swayed on my feet. "You remind me of Sky." Rahn said bringing me down onto him. "We looked at the stars side by side with Death. She would always make the same joke and Death would always make the same comment. I didn't want those days to end but they did." His hand reached up grabbing a piece of my hair.

"Open your eyes Emily and go where you want to go. I no longer hold your mind." he said as my vision faded from his face.

"Wait!" I said coming to my senses in the real world. It had all been in my head making me feel lonely that the conversation would only be remembered as a dream. I ran down the stairs not to far away from the dreams but there was no carpet when I turned the corner into the living room. In fact no one was there so I darted to the other doors opening each one until one led me outside.

Where I expected to be barren land a lush garden spread before me. Shining glass walls covered in gold inlay surrounded the fauna. Dark green grass covered the spaces not occupied by moss or plant. The whole place glowed in moonlight soft and gentle like a mothers touch. I took in the fresh air letting my emotions take on the serenity of the garden.

No birds chirped nor bug make a noise it was an eerie yet calming feel. I walked slowly through the garden following the grass path careful not to disturb the plants around me. My walk came to an abrupt stop as I came to a small slope leading to a large tree. At the top of the tree sat a man gazing upwards toward the stars. I smiled my dream was his after all. It should not come as a surprise to see him gazing at the past and future.

"Still want to kill me?" I called out. He slowly turned his my way not showing a grin or smile. His eyes glowed in the pale light taking my breath away.

"Yes and no. I lied about the contract with Victor you know. I cancelled it." he sighed.

"Why are you bringing this up?" I asked coming up to the tree's base.

"It means I can't go back." I waited. "I can send you though."

"I think you forgot something." I said climbing up the tree to sit beneath him in the canopy. He had a confused look on his face so I smiled at having the upper hand. "Seriously? If you can read minds why can't you figure out what I'm thinking?"

Rahn's mouth twitched into a slight grin but then saddened as he turned to the sky full of stars once more. I looked with him missing the stars I had seen throughout my life. None of them would be there, I knew, yet I couldn't help but feel that somewhere in the vast universe they were still shining down on my old worlds. I sighed than answered my own question, "I'll form a contract with you."

His head turned abruptly as his grin came back. Just before I could see what he was saying he vanished before coming up from behind me. "Do you have what it takes to be my partner?" I went to respond but he evaporated again appearing before me on the branch. "Do you know what being my partner requires?" I grabbed his shirt collar so he couldn't run away.

"No one tells me so how should I know? Wait because I'm always in the dark ill make the deal. You will be able to travel worlds freely using my energy. To reveal your real form you may use that same source as does the one called Death and Jerry. What else.. Oh yeah!" I stopped as he placed a kiss on my check. My eyebrows furrowed as he pulled away a small smile on his lips.

"I wouldn't worry about that. When a creature from my world signs a contract the form fills itself out. All that is required from us is the mutual agreement of our lives." He sat on his heels perched delicately on the branch.
