"That was lovely Dad." I exclaimed as I laid my knife and fork down on the plate.
"Not a problem love, are you not having any of the wine?" He asked me noticing that I hadn't even lifted the glass to my mouth.
"No I'm alright Dad, I'm not a big fan," I lied, wanting to save the surprise for later.
"Oh alright, do you want something else? A G&T? Bailey's?" He suggested going to get up from the table.
I giggled, thinking of a lie I could tell him. After a second I said "honestly Dad, I'm fine, I'll get myself a Lemmo, I'm trying to stop having so much drink since I was poorly, Jade and I are doing it." I added as his face turned down at my drink of choice. Finally I saw his face relax and I let out a silent sigh of relief as I went into the kitchen.
An hour later saw us all perched on various items of furniture around the Christmas tree.
"Who want to go first?" Dad asked us.
"Me, me! I want to give you guys your gifts, sorry Jon you got yours last night." I enthusiastically said jumping up and getting the presents. I gave them to Caitlin and Dad, "Jo you should help dad," i told my step mam, then quickly added, as Cait started tearing the paper, "wait, before you open them, let me get the camera recording because the girls will no doubt want to see this!"
Caitlin impatiently sighed as I pulled out my phone and started recording.
"Okay... go!" I screamed as they all tore off the paper at alarming speeds. Like I had done the night before, I watched as Dad and Caitlin studied the gifts in their hands.
"Oh my fucking God, Pez, are you serious? Are you really?" Caitlin screamed before launching her self at me, the tears pouring out of her eyes, wetting my jumper.
"Cait, what's wrong, what's going on?" Dad asked, seeing us hugging tight.
"Dad, Perrie's pregnant, I'm gonna be an auntie, Dad, your going to be a grandpa." Caitlin explained still wiping the tears away from her eyes.
I watched the realisation in his eyes and then saw the tears running down his face, "Oh Dad, c'mere, I'm alright I'm not dying, it's just a baby!" I exclaimed opening my arms for him. Jo was wiping her eyes too, patting dad's back.
"I know I'm so happy for you, that's why I'm crying, tears of joy" he said accepting the hug, Jo hugging me too, congratulating me also.
"How long?" Caitlin asked after a minute or so, still wiping away the tears from her eyes.
"About 2 months. Which is why I fainted on Graham Norton but I didn't know then, I found out about a month ago and I've already had a scan."
"Oh my god, but you're not showing at all!" Caitlin cooed laying her hand on my stomach.
"Well I'm so early and I've lost weight from being so ill so there's no doubt that I'm not showing."
“I was like that when I had Caitlin,” Jo told me, intertwining her hand with Dad’s.
"Wait this is why you didn't have anything to drink!" Caitlin shouted as if she had just discovered the mystery of a lifetime!
"No shit Sherlock, obviously!" I jokingly retorted back earning a smack on the arm from my younger sister.
"Well you're certainly glowing." Caitlin gushed as she looked at my face.
"Pfft Cait this is the worst I've looked in a long time" I said, gesturing to my sunken cheek bones and the visibility of my bones in general.
Then dad stepped in from stopping the infinitesimal disagreement , saying, as we sat back down on the sofa "Well, you're beautiful to us no matter what. Anyway, I'm so happy for you Perrie, who knows?"
"Well, you guys, mam, Jon, the girls and Zayn knows as well." I said almost whispering the last name.
"Oh come here Pez, you don't need him, you've got us." Caitlin cooed pulling me in for another hug "he's a dick any way" she whispered in my ear, which caused me to giggle.
"When's the baby due then?" Caitlin asked as she tried counting on her fingers to figure it out "June?"
"Close, July 9th but it's bound to come early or late because it's my first." I said instinctively rubbing my hand on my belly.
"Can you imagine if it came on your birthday?" Caitlin sighed.
I couldn't help laugh at my sister's excitement, "Cait calm down you've got a good 7 months to go babes. You're more excited than me!"
"Sorry Pez, I'm just so excited to be an auntie" she practically shouted, elongating the so.
"Alright little duck, did dad give you alcohol?" I asked looking at my dad who had a guilty look on her face "honestly, you know she gets like this!" I half scolded half chuckled, as I forced my sister to sit down.
We finished opening our presents and cuddled up together to watch a Christmas film. Caitlin had her head on my shoulder and her hand on the 'baby'. I was laying on Jonnie and he had his hand around my shoulder, so I was pulled closer to him. My dad was sat in the arm chair, his head on his chest as he snored. And Jo had gone into the other room to speak to her brother.
As the end credits began rolling I looked down to see my sister sleeping. The sight reminded me of when we were younger and Caitlin would frequently fall asleep on me during our movie nights. I softly awed before unhooking myself from Jonnie and placing my hand under my sisters legs and one on her back, scooping her up.
"Pez, put her down you'll hurt yourself." Jonnie said as he realised what I was doing.
"Nonsense, Jon I'm fine, she weighs nothing." I retorted as I walked through the house and up the stairs to mine and Caitlin's room, that we had shared since Caitlin was 1. Carefully I pushed the door open and walked over to the bed where I placed Caitlin onto the mattress. Gently I pulled off her skinny jeans and put on her jammie bottoms and changed her Christmas jumper for a vest top. Once I had accomplished this with the 15 year old still asleep, I changed myself, pushed my bed next to Caitlin's and climbed in. Caitlin stirred a little and wrapped her arm around me, lifting her head and laying it on my chest. I chuckled a little at my sister's actions, before snuggling with her and falling asleep, my hand, like usual, resting on my 'baby'.
