1 and a half years later
"Hello?" I said into the phone, as I answered the phone that had been incessantly ringing, whilst I was getting my nails done for Leigh's imminent wedding.
"Hi, Miss Edwards?" The person on the phone said, making me stand up holding a finger up to my nail person.
"Yes, who is this sorry?" I questioned, hoping it was who I thought it was.
"Sharon Fenton, I'm a social worker, I'm calling to tell you that we have a child who we think matches your family, is your partner Alexander with you?" She replied, making my heart fly up into my throat.
"N-no he's at work, have you really got someone?" I said shocked, not really believing that this moment had finally come.
"Yes, she's called Savannah and she's 3, there's not a whole lot we know at the moment, when does Alex get home from work?" Sharon asked, Perrie writing down everything Sharon was telling her.
"I'm not sure, I'd have to ring him to check, are you hoping to bring her today?" I questioned completely stunned.
"Yes, she needs to be taken tonight if you can." Sharon said, a pleading tone in her voice.
"Yes, we can take her, I'll ring Alex, what time will you be arriving?" I said, as I grabbed my phone and shot Alex a text.
"Around 8:30, once the discharge papers come through we should be on our way, I'll email you her details so you can learn a bit more about her before she arrives." Sharon said hinting that Savannah had been in hospital.
"Perfect, I'll see you then then," I replied, as Alex's message came through saying 'what?! I'll try and get going now, I'm sure the boss will give me an extra day off! love you xx'
"Okay, see you soon." Sharon said before the line went silent and I instantly rang Alex.
"Alex!" I said the minute he picked up.
"Baby! Tell me everything!" he siad back, I could hear someone telling him his car had been pulled up.
"I don't know alot, I'm pretty sure she's been in hospital because they said something about discharge papers. She's called Savannah and she's 3. That's about all I know." I explained, going back to pay my nail person.
"Okay, and what time will she arrive babe?" Alex asked, I could hear the car start and the phone beep, as he went onto hands free.
"Half 8 apparently, gosh I'm so nervous, do we even have the right things to look after a 3 year old?" I said starting to panic even more.
"Yes we do. We have safety rails for the bed, a cot in case she wants to sleep in that, plastic plates and cutlery. We are ready for her babe so ready" he reassured, as the Chloe started to pack up.
"I guess, I'll let you go now, see you soon." I told him, hearing his goodbye before I hung up, trying to pull the email from Sharon up.
"Bye Miss Edwards" Chloe, my nail person said, as I showed her out 5 minutes later.
"Bye Chloe, see you soon." I waved, closing the door behind her, sliding down it so I could focus on reading Sharon's email.
It read:
Child's name: Savannah (No known surname at present)
