Richie knocked on Eddie's door, snow falling around him and landing in his soft curls. He'd been planning to take Eddie ice skating ever since he'd found out Eddie had never been.

"Hey Rich- aren't you cold?" Eddie asked, his bright eyes immediately glazing over with concern.

"I'm okay." Richie grinned, wrinkling his pink nose. Richie walked inside, tracking snow all over Eddie's carpets.

"What are you doing here?" Eddie asked, dusting off both Richie and his mother's floor.

"I'm taking you ice skating!" Richie grinned, going to Eddie's hallway closet and getting out Eddie's winter coat. Eddie held out his arms, allowing Richie to put his jacket on for him with a blush.

"I've never been Richie... I'll fall..."

"That's all part of the fun Eds!" Richie pulled the boy's hood up, letting the faux fur surround his small face. Richie placed a kiss on Eddie's nose, then took his gloved hand and led him out the door.

"If I fall you have to kiss it better." Eddie said, half joking as he got in Richie's mom's car.

"Funny you would say that when most of the time people fall on their asses." Richie smirked, causing Eddie to roll his eyes.

"Shut up Richie." He said, in unison with Richie's mom saying 'Language'.

Richie sat back, keeping Eddie's hand in his as his mom drove to the ice skating rink. Once they arrived, Richie got out and opened Eddie's door for him, motioning him out with a mock British accent.

"I'll be back in an hour boys." Mrs. Tozier called as Richie closed the door and began walking towards the entrance.

Once they got inside, they were hit with the cold and all the voices. There were kids falling, couples skating hand in hand and pros skating circles and figure eights around everyone else. Richie took Eddie to the front, getting them both skates. Richie kneeled in front of Eddie as he sat on the bench.

"What are you doing?" Eddie questioned as Richie took his skates from him.

"Putting your glass slipper on, Cinderella." Richie winked, ignoring Eddie's half hearted protests as he slipped the skates on his boyfriend. Richie finished lacing them, and smiled up at Eddie, who had been watching him lovingly. Richie got his skates on as well, and held out his hand for Eddie.

Eddie took it firmly, slowly standing up as he stayed leaning against the wall. Richie stood shakily as well, now realizing that his lie about being an expert was coming back to bite him in the ass. Eddie slowly pushed himself off the wall, breaking out into a delighted grin when he successfully made it onto the ice. His victory was short lived though, as soon as the blade touched the ice, Eddie's skate slid backwards, bringing Eddie with it.

Richie covered his mouth, his glove only partially muffling his laughter. Eddie flipped him off, pulling himself up and ignoring Richie's offer to help, the taller boy still in a fit of laughter. Karma soon hit Richie though, as he had barely gotten off the wall a second time before he lost control and fell face first into the ice.

Eddie cracked up, his adorable, soft laughter almost causing Richie to ignore the fact that he was laughing. Richie grabbed his arm, pulling Eddie forward enough to make him lose his balance, the smaller boy falling on top of Richie.

"Well hey there klutz." Eddie giggled, his hair falling into his face as he looked down at his boyfriend.

"Hey Eds." Richie grinned, leaning up and kissing him softly. Skaters glanced at the winter time cliché as they passed, Richie cupping Eddie's red cheeks with his gloves. Eddie pulled away, grinning and kissed Richie's cheek.

"You're an idiot." Eddie shook his head, pulling himself up on the wall for the second time and then helping Richie.

"You love it." Richie fired back, keeping hold of Eddie's hand as he prepared to try for a third time.

The two continued to push themselves from the wall, only getting a few feet at first. After multiple attempts, countless falls and a number of bruises on each boy's bodies, they began to improve. Richie and Eddie skated shakily, almost walking on the ice, but it was enough to satisfy them. When they began to get further around the circle, a man who had to be in his 30's skated by, his large body slamming into Eddie as he turned the corner. Eddie cried out in surprise, falling onto the ice.

"Excuse me!" Richie called out, skating after the guy slowly. The man heard, turning around and looking down at Richie.

"You just ran into my boyfriend." Richie crossed his arms, Eddie watching him with fear and disbelief on his face.

"Okay?" The man replied, glancing at Eddie behind Richie.

"Okay, so I want you to apologize." Richie said, holding his ground as the guy towered over him.

"Sorry kid-" The man said awkwardly, nodding at Eddie before skating off again.

"Watch where you're going next time, asshole!" Richie called after him, flipping him off with both hands.

"Richie!" Eddie said, trying to sound disapproving. But Richie saw the smile on his lips, and went back over to help him up. "Why'd you do that?"

"Because I love you." Richie shrugged.

"You're so protective." Eddie laughed, wrapping his arm around Richie's waist tightly.

"You're so adorable." Richie replied with a kiss on Eddie's forehead, both boys skating off again.

The hour passed too quickly, the two returning their skates in fits of laughter after Richie tripped over one of the benches.

"You're such a dork." Eddie grinned, slipping his snow boots back on as Richie sat next to him.

"You love me." Richie smiled, doing the same. Eddie nodded, taking the curly haired boy by surprise and kissing him to prove Richie's point.

"And I love you." Richie grinned into the kiss, both getting up and leaving the building, hand in hand, covered in bruises and ice, but wearing the biggest smiles Richie's mom had ever seen.
