"See ya later losers!" Richie got up and flipped everyone off, laughing as they rolled their eyes. He turned to Eddie and pinched his cheek, "Bye Eds."

Eddie grinned, heat taking over his face when Richie touched him. He met Richie's gaze and he could've sworn he saw something in his eyes, a sort of longing. Richie left his hand on Eddie's cheek for just a second longer than needed, and that second felt like it could've been hours. Eddie was completely captivated in Richie's stare, and Richie couldn't bare to stop looking down into Eddie's deep, beautiful brown eyes. It was only after Bill shifted on the grass, alerting the boys of his presence, that Richie pulled his hand away and started to walk away. Neither of the boys wanted anyone to know how they truly felt when they were together, not even each other.

Bill chuckled to himself and Eddie turned to him, his eyebrows creased, "What's so funny?"

"Y-you guys are ju-just cute." Bill smiled and Eddie felt his stomach drop, the color draining from his face. How did Bill know he liked Richie? There was no way he could, right?

"What do you mean?"

"Well you cl-clearly have a crush on R-Richie." Bill said, his tone was so calm like this was just a known fact. Did they all know this? Eddie couldn't let that happen. No one could know about his secret. About his disease.

Just as Bill said this, Richie had come back because he forgot his backpack. He heard the words stutter out of Bill's mouth, and immediately his eyes went to Eddie. Did Eddie have a crush on him? He had a crush on Eddie, though he would never tell anyone. He had only just come to terms with it inside his own mind. He anxiously awaited Eddie's response.

"No I don't!" Eddie said almost immediately, his voice high and shrill in the way his mother's was when she got scared he was going too fast on his bike. Richie felt an aching pain in his chest at the words, at the clear disgust on Eddie's face. Eddie was feeling a similar ache as he lied about the boy he loved, but no one could know. Richie took off quickly as Eddie continued to say he didn't like Richie, every word felt like someone was stabbing Richie in the heart. He would rather be face to face with Pennywise right now than to hear Eddie say one more word about him. The thought of even seeing Eddie again made his stomach turn, how could he look into the eyes of the boy he was in love with after hearing him so repulsed at the mention of having a crush on him?

Richie had decided before he got home that he was not going to be hanging out with the Losers tomorrow. And so he didn't, and he didn't the next day, or the day after that.

One day, he agreed to hang out with just Bill and Stan, who said they were worried about him. At the last second, Eddie was free and was invited by Bill. When Richie got there and saw Eddie, he stopped. Eddie smiled and went over to him.

"Hey! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever."

"Yeah because I haven't been hanging out with you guys." Richie said in a flat, monotone voice and sat down on Bill's couch. Eddie creased his eyebrows but sat down next to him. He was ready to jokingly push Richie off of him, as Richie usually couldn't help but hang all over Eddie. But this time, he didn't feel Richie's touch. He didn't feel the butterflies like whenever Richie would put his arm around Eddie or kiss his cheek. He didn't feel anything. In fact, when he looked over at Richie, he saw Richie was as far away from him as possible on the couch and wouldn't even face him.

Eddie frowned, moving closer to Richie and reaching out to touch his arm. Before he could even rest his hand fully on Richie's arm, Richie had yanked it away and shot up off the couch, as if Eddie's touch had burned him.

"I'm leaving." Richie said, and without waiting to hear anyone's protests, he turned on his heel and left, slamming Bill's door.

Eddie was devastated. It felt like someone had beaten him up and left him on the ground for dead. He felt hopeless, Richie wouldn't even look at him and he had no idea why. Without a word to Stan or Bill, he was up and out of the door after Richie. He knew exactly where Richie would go, and he was going to go give him a piece of his mind. He didn't do anything to Richie to be treated this way.

Eddie got to the clubhouse, by this time his hands were visibly shaking. He resisted the urge to get out his inhaler, instead taking a deep breath on his own and throwing the hatch open, jumping down. Sure enough, there was Richie on the hammock.

"What is your problem?!" Eddie yelled as he stormed over, but his voice broke almost immediately and hot tears were suddenly threatening to spill out of his eyes. He didn't know where all of this was coming from, he was supposed to be mad. Richie heard the sob about to escape Eddie's mouth and got up.

"My problem?! What's your problem?!"

"What the hell are you talking about?" Eddie fumed, taking two steps closer to Richie, his arms crossed angrily. He was so much shorter than Richie though, that he had to look up at him just to make eye contact. Richie couldn't help but notice in the back of his mind how cute Eddie looked when he was mad, his lips tightly together and his eyebrows furrowed, not to mention how much he used his hands to express his emotions, pointing at Richie as he yelled. Eddie continued, "You've been ignoring us for days and when we finally get a hold of you, you don't even spare me a passing glance!"

"I left my bag the other day." Richie said calmly, though his legs and hands were shaking so hard he could barely stand up.

Eddie opened his mouth to yell some more, but he stopped, genuinely puzzled by what Richie meant. He didn't say anything, and just waited for Richie to continue.

"I left my bag that day we were all at the barrens, so I came back to get it. I heard Bill ask if you... if you had a crush on me."

"So?" Eddie swallowed nervously, "I don't understand why that would make you want to avoid us... I said no." He reasoned, assuming that Richie was disgusted with the thought of Eddie liking him, just as he had predicted.

"Dammit Eddie! That's exactly why I would want to avoid you! I like you, a lot! It hurt more than any pain the Bowers gang or that fucking clown could bring me, hearing you say that!" Richie didn't know why he was yelling, he just couldn't stop. He was so worked up and upset over the way this was going, he didn't even realize Eddie had completely closed the gap between them, and he couldn't feel Eddie's chest against his every time he took a breath.

Richie had no idea what he was doing, but he was done playing games with Eddie. Richie grabbed the smaller boy's face in both of his hands, pulling him forward and slamming their lips together. Eddie let out a small gasp at the sudden contact, but quickly melted into the kiss. Their lips worked perfectly together, both boys' eyes fluttered shut as they absorbed every moment of the kiss. Richie kissed Eddie with all the anger, which was really love, he had in his body. Eddie kissed back with urgency, his hands reaching up to tangle themselves in Richie's beautiful curls, tugging on them softly.

The boys eventually pulled away from each other, but neither dared to move a few inches from the other's face. Richie felt Eddie's quick breaths on his face and he looked down at him, Eddie's eyes were wide and his face was red. They were both grinning ear to ear. Richie rested his forehead against Eddie's, looking deep into his eyes again, this time with no intention of leaving.

"I like you too." Eddie giggled, and Richie shook his head and kissed him again. This time was more gentle than the first, both boys knew they would be able to do this a lot more often from now on. Richie's lips moved sweetly in sync with Eddie's, and his hands rested on Eddie's waist. Eddie reached up, wrapping his arms around Richie and pulling himself as close as possible to the taller boy. He was going to like getting used to this.
