Eddie and Richie sat in the courtyard, both copying the homework they hadn't done off the other boy's paper. Just as Eddie went to correct Richie's equation, three girls from their classes made their way over and seated themselves around Richie.
"You look cute today." One of them smiled, moving closer so their hips were touching.
"Absolutely, so adorable." Another one grins and runs her hand through his long curls.
Eddie felt his chest tighten and his fists were clenched. He couldn't do anything about it- so he sat and watched the girls flirt with his boyfriend. Richie shifted slightly uncomfortably but smiled.
"Uh thanks girls." He chuckled, looking at Eddie as if he was expecting him to laugh too. Eddie didn't. Instead, he got up and stormed off with his backpack. Ever since they started sophomore year, girls had been all over Richie. Eddie knew he'd gotten taller, his curls became more untamed and he looked much better with contacts instead of his glasses. He looked much older now than he did freshman year. He looked better. But he was dating Eddie, and Eddie was still just himself. Eddie went to the back of the school, sitting against the brick wall and putting his head in his hands. Then he felt Richie's hand on his shoulder.
"Eds? What's wrong?"
"Why are you here? Don't your girlfriends miss you?" Eddie sniffed, trying to fight the tears in his eyes. He was terrified of losing Richie.
"They were just being nice..."
"Bullshit! They're all over you and you didn't do anything!" Eddie felt his fear taking over, he had no idea why he was yelling when Richie was just trying to comfort him.
"Eddie stop. Why are you being like this?" Richie demanded, a hand on his hip. His temper was starting to flare up too.
"Just leave me alone! Go be with someone else!"
"Why the hell would I want to be with someone else?!"
"Because you can! You're amazing and everyone we pass practically throws themselves at you now!! You don't have to settle for me anymore!" Eddie felt the tears on his cheek as he took a puff of his aspirator.
"Eds..." Richie's anger was gone almost as fast as it had boiled up. The tears on Eddie's face broke his heart. How could Eddie not think he was enough?
Richie cupped his cheek, slowly lifting his head so their eyes locked. "I love you Eddie. Only you. You're not just enough for me- you're more than enough. Eds I'm so lucky to have you. I'd never throw that away."
Eddie just looked at him, blinking away the tears and wiping his eyes slowly.
"You're beautiful Eddie."
Eddie felt his cheeks go red and he smiled, leaning forward and pecking his lips.
"I'm sorry... I shouldn't get jealous..."
"It's okay baby, I understand." Richie smiled, "If I was dating me I'd be jealous all the time."
"Okay you ruined it." Eddie rolled his eyes, but couldn't help his laughter.
Richie grinned and stood, pulling the boy up with him. Richie wrapped a tight arm around his waist and made his way back to the group of girls who seemed to be waiting. Richie stopped right in front of them and pulled Eddie in by his waist, connecting their lips. Richie kissed him passionately, holding him against his chest. Eddie kissed back and when Richie pulled away he was wide eyed and dark red.
"I'm the luckiest guy in the world." Richie grinned, laughing as the girls
walked away uncomfortably. And Eddie couldn't help but laugh too.
He was Richie's.
Richie was his.
