"You look so cute Eds!" Richie grinned at his boyfriend in the mirror as Eddie finished getting his costume on. Richie had been convincing Eddie to go out with him on Halloween for a month, and even longer on wearing matching Halloween costumes. Eddie had gotten to choose, and he settled on Claire and Bender from The Breakfast Club. He found it fitting, since Richie was always annoying him.

Eddie tucked his pink shirt into a pair of high waisted brown shorts. He fluffed his curls in the mirror, and rolled his eyes when he noticed Richie staring at him. "Close your mouth Tozier, you'll catch flies."

"Sorry baby, you just look so good."

Eddie giggled, he and Richie had been dating for a few months but every time Richie called him baby, he felt his face heat up and he saw his face turning bright red in the mirror. He watched Richie finish getting ready. Richie pulled on a flannel over his white t-shirt, and then put on an oversized jean jacket to complete the iconic look. He had put some gel in his hair, not so that it was slicked back but so his curls were tamed. He bent down, tying the laces on his boots. He stood back up and spun around for Eddie.

"Looks good Rich." Eddie said as he turned back around, and he was met with the other boy's lips against his. Eddie grinned, pulling Richie close by the collar of his jacket and kissing him back.

"Let's go! I want candy." Richie pulled his boyfriend out of the house. Eddie had protested up until that morning that they were too old to go trick or treating and they should just buy candy at the store, but Richie ignored him every time.

The boys walked through the night, stopping at doors and ignoring the disapproving stares until they got their candy. Eddie was actually warming up, and soon he was smiling and laughing as much as Richie. That was until their shadows in the dim street lamp were covered by four much larger ones. The boys spun around and were now face to face with Bowers and his goons. Richie instinctively stood in front of Eddie.

"Fuck off Bowers." He warned, a scared shake in his voice.

"Oh, how rude." Bowers cooed, pushing past Richie and leaning eerily close to Eddie. "We're just being friendly, right boys?"

Richie clenched his fists, his blood boiling as he saw Eddie, the color draining from his face, gripping his bucket so hard his knuckles were white, and practically shaking in fear.

"Get away from him!" Richie yelled, shoving Bowers backwards, away from Eddie. Eddie gasped and grabbed onto Richie's arm, his eyes begging Richie to just leave.

Henry was up quickly, running over and tearing Richie away from Eddie's grip. "That was a huge mistake kid." Bowers snarled in his ear, before connecting his fist with Richie's nose. White hot pain raced through Richie's face, and he stumbled back. Bowers grabbed him by the jacket, pulling him up again and then landing another punch to Richie's ribs. Richie coughed and cried out for them to stop, but his plea was lost in the yelling and laughing from Belch, Patrick and Victor. Eddie cried out for him.

After a few more blows to his face and stomach, Henry threw Richie down like an old rag doll. Richie lay still, whimpering softly. Henry grabbed the bag of candy from him, and Patrick went over to Eddie. Before Patrick could utter a threat, Eddie thrusted the bag of candy towards him and ran over to Richie.

"Happy Halloween freaks." Bowers laughed as him and his friends walked away, leaving the boys alone in the dim light.

Eddie held Richie in his arms, and Richie was crying. He didn't want to cry in front of Eddie, but he couldn't help it. He was so tired of being terrorized in his own town, and now he couldn't even have a nice Halloween with his boyfriend. He clutched Eddie's shirt in pain and in sadness and just cried. Eddie's heart ached to make him feel better, but all he could do was hold Richie close on the cold ground, stroking his curls and rubbing his back.

Eventually, Richie was ready to let Eddie examine him. Eddie took out band-aids, a small container of water and a small container of antibiotic spray. He gently applied pressure to each of Richie's wounds, and then poured some water in them. Once he was done cleaning them, he got the spray.

"This is going to sting." He warned, and then sprayed some on each cut. Richie inhaled sharply, reaching out and grabbing Eddie's shoulder, a string of cuss words leaving his mouth until Eddie was done. Eddie put a band-aid on each one carefully, and kissed each one when he was done.

Richie grinned, his pain disappearing with each kiss and wiped his tears. He cupped Eddie's cheek, lifting his chin and connecting their lips. Eddie cupped his face too, pulling Richie close and kissing him over, and over, and over, and over. Anything to make him feel better, and with every kiss he felt Richie's smile grow.

"Thanks Dr. K." Richie winked when they finally pulled away, earning an eye roll from Eddie in response. Both boys laughed and stood up, Richie lacing their fingers immediately.

Eddie began to pull his hand away, "Maybe it's not a good idea to be out together like this in public..." he sighed, "You saw what just happened."

Richie squeezed Eddie's hand tighter, leaning down and kissing his forehead. "I would get my ass beat every day just to show you off."

Eddie's cheeks blushed deep red, and he stood on his tip toes to kiss Richie once more, then the two walked off down the street together, hand in hand, arguing because Eddie told Richie he was right about them not coming, and Richie told him he had the most fun he's ever had.
