Nightmares Within Me

Night 4 Part 2

There was silence for a good long while. Cat just sat behind me watching as I stood at the barrier just watching Nathan as he circled the group and watched his brother who was completely oblivious to the fact that not even twenty yards away was someone that he knew was watching and planning their end and how they would die and how slow they would be tortured and hurt. I watched and followed as he circled the group for an hour and a half almost and as I did I thought of several different ways that he would be killed at my hands.

" Rae, you're not going to get anything useful done if you just sit there and watch him, you'll eventually wear yourself out and when the time comes you won't be able to do anything," she said as she laid on the grass looking up at the sky, " It's going to be night soon enough and you need to get as much sleep as you can. I'll keep watch tonight and make sure that nothing happens to them. If something happens I'll wake you up and we'll do something," she said as she sat up.

I knew she was right but it didn't make me feel any better about leaving Nathan to watch the group but I know there was truly nothing I could do so I walked over to her and sat down. I laid back and watched the sky because that was all I could do at this point. We sat there and I listened to her talk about whatever she thought would entertain us and while she talked I watched Nathan still. I never took my eyes off him and for hours I watched him walk around the group, just watching them, and after a while, I fell asleep, no longer able to keep my eyes open. I woke up to Ryder yelling and running around the field being chased by Austin. Cat was laughing and I could hear the rest of the group laughing. I sat up to see that Austin, Ryder, Justin, and Gavin were all running around like lunatics. The girls were laughing and the other guys were just there watching with disbelief on there face.

" They began making a bet on who would win a game of tag, it's been 6 hours," Cat said from behind me. I looked closer and realized that Nathan had backed up to the tree line again and was now looking at the ground. I laughed as Austin tripped and Ryder fell over him, hitting the ground. Suddenly the ground shook and the creature appeared. Lillian yelled and the guys grabbed whoever was closest and moved all the girls behind them like they could protect them.

The creature walked forward and grabbed Gavin by the throat. It's claws completely encircled his throat and in one quick squeeze we all heard a snap and his limp body was dropped to the ground. Nathan walked forward and it almost looked forced, like he didn't want to. He came up to Gavin's body and looked at it then looked at the group.

" This was a warning if you think that you'll be able to escape you're wrong. Nothing can save you and you will all die," he said and then he charged Grace. She couldn't do anything to fight back so when Nathan began to land punch after punch on her she couldn't do anything to stop it and fell to the ground. He proceeded to kick her until we also then heard the snapping of bone and next to her screaming. The agony and pain that you could hear brought Bennett to his knees and had me charging the barrier at full force doing nothing but bouncing off like I usually do. She was screaming and kicking and curling into a tight ball. She was yelling and screaming and crying and when someone tried to get near her it was like it made the pain worse and she would seize and scream impossibly louder. Nathan continued kicking even when she stopped screaming after she stopped screaming. He finally stopped and backed up, everyone held their breath to see if she would move or even breath. She finally made a sound, it sounded like a grunt and as she tried to stand.

" I've got to say, Grace, you've got the spirit. Let's play football shall we?" he said as he backed up a few paces and got into a running stance like he was going to kick a field goal. Grace simply got on to her knees and held her head high.

" I love you guys," she said before Nathan charged her and in one swift movement, he kicks her under the chin sending her head flying up and cracking so that even I could hear it. Her neck was broken and she fell limp to the ground. I screamed and fell to the ground, not even trying to break the barrier anymore. Bennett had gone silent and was also on his knees. Lillian's face was buried in Justyns chest so she wouldn't have seen it but she was shaking and we could hear her sobbing. She knew what had happened. Camilla was staring blankly at Nathan. James was behind Camilla holding her shoulder, and Ryder was with Austin who was shaking with rage. Nathan though had the strangest reaction. He took a few stumbling steps back blinking a few times and shaking his head like he didn't remember doing it. He looked around at everyone, and me, before finding Grace on the ground. He ran forward and fell beside her wanting to grab her but hesitating. He turned to Ryder.

" Did-did I do this?" he asked, his voice shaking uncontrollably. Ryder's blank expression was all he needed. He stood and walked towards Ryder and I sprang to my feet.

" Don't go near him!" I screamed. Nathan turned to me, his eyes brimming with tears I could see across the field.

" I-i didn't mean to. I swear I didn't want to, it m-made me," he stuttered

" I don't care. You don't go near any of them until you figure out how not to let it control you, do you understand!" the group was looking at him like he was crazy because to them he was looking and talking to nothing, " Get it to drop the barrier, do something," Nathan nodded and immediately his expression and demeanor changed and he faced the creature.

" Don't you think she should die with them, I would think having to witness it up close and holding them after would be worse than making her watch," the creature seemed to consider before I saw something waver in front of me and I stuck my hand past where the barrier should have been. I looked at Cat.

" They can't see me, Rae, only you can hear and see me," she smiled and with that, I charged Nathan.
