We were all stuck in a small space. There was no lead in to this. No walk of shame into this situation. We were just put her. I opened my eyes and yet again found the concrete cell. For some reason or another we always end up here again, always with a different situation but always to the point of origin. I stood up slowly using the wall as support until my eyes adjusted to the darkness that surrounded me at every angel. That darkness that had quickly become my friend and only constant support. The darkness that i turned to when i felt i could turn to no one else with what was inside me. The darkness that receded but would never leave. I stood and waited again realizing there was no way of estimating time here. I sighed, feeling eyes on my back. I knew what it was and knew how this was going to end. This was going to be slow. Once my eyes focused i realized, thankfully, there were only a few people where with me. Lillian, Justyn, and Ryder of course as they were the primary three in all of these. Me, Victoria, and Eric were the last three making the number six. Five of which i knew i was going to watch die. How, i don't know i just know i will.
" Who's awake?" i called out. I didn't know if the room had shrunk or if it was just dark so i used the walls as my guide as i went around. Only Justyn and Victoria woke up. I went around and checked everyone's pulses, they were alive. The room was also the same size with a door on the far side from where everyone was mainly situated. THat was where it was going to be coming through to do whatever it chose to do.
" What the hell is going on?" Justyn asked, Victoria nodded her head. I turned to see that everyone else was awake to. Ryder was struggling to get up, looking at me the whole time and Justyn had already moved to Lillian.
" Everyone just stay put," i noticed my voice was so dead. So empty. There was no emotion, nothing. The memories of all the other events sticking in my head. Ryder noticed it and looked at me, trying to figure it out but i covered it with a confident aura and went about figuring this shit out.
" There's a door near the corner over there, i want everyone in the far corner opposing the door. Stay far away from that door at all times. There's no way to keep track of time so were kinda fucked on that aspect but well figure out a way to soon," they nodded and did as instructed. I noticed after some time that normally food would have been brought. That's what it was. It was going to starve us. I smirked. It was in for a surprise.
" Do any of you remember anything from before this?" they all nodded, " Do you remember when the last time you ate was?" i got varying responses and figured out a list of who, based on their last meal, was going to go first. I hung my head once it was figured out. If i was right i'd be surprised because one can't gage how long another can survive but based on that we're all fucked either way.
" What's going on? What do you know? Is this you're fault?" Eric began asking,
" Great one person already against me and i doubt it's been ten minutes," i mumbled. Ryders hand slipped around my waist and i flinched, causing him to draw back until i regained myself and leaned against him for support, " I have no idea what's going on, but i have enough of a brain to figure all this out in a situation," and that was that. Eric went to sleep. Justyn and Victoria found a loose rock and scratched a game of tic-tac-toe into the wall and were playing tat for hours. Lillian was singing a song from choir and Ryder and I were sitting down just watching everyone. He was humming softly and for a moment, again, i felt like we were going to make it.
It was like this for a while, if i had to guess it was at least a day and a half since we all woke up. No one had said anything about food thankfully. I had figured out either way i was going to be the last one alive. No just because the creature wanted to torture me, but because i struggle with an eating problem so i'm used to not eating for a while. This would be easy for me food and hunger wise. In all other categories i was fucked. Ryder began to fall asleep, his head resting on my shoulder as he was propped lying on the wall with me between his legs, my back on his chest. I moved and it woke him a little. I just laid him down and got up to go hangout with Lillian.
" I remember dying," she said as i sat down. I stopped.
" What?" she looked at me,
" I remember dying. Someone holding me, then a gun," my breathing had stopped. She remembers. The last time i saw her was then the creature left us to our own devices and i shot her and Alex at the same time. She remembers that.
" Do you know who was there?" i asked cautiously. She shook her head claiming she only remembered sounds and feelings. I let out a relieved sigh as i realized she didn't know it had been me. I got up and went over to the two idiots who were playing games.
" What the fuck do you think you're doing?" i said laughing. They just flipped me off and continued to play. That was like them. Eric was still asleep. That worried me. Even not being able to tell time he shouldn't be sleeping that long. I went over to Ryder quickly and put the back of my hand on his forehead. Cold. He wasn't running a temperature so it was something with Eric. Ryder woke up just as i was walking over ot Eric and followed me.
I got to Eric who looks paler than normal and i could tell once i got over there that his breathing was shallow. Was he going to be the first one? Was i wrong in my guess? I put my hand against his forehead like i had Ryders but it didn't feel like anything. It was like i hadn't touched him at all. I drew my hand back quickly. I looked up at Ryder and grabbed his hand, placing it on Erics forehead. Ryder flinched, feeling the same thing i had. I shook Eric awake and he woke up slowly, looking at everyone around him. He squinted for a minute and when he tried to speak it was in a hoarse voice that sounded like he hadn't used it in years.
" What's going on? Did we find a way out?" he asked as he tried to stand up. I saw his legs shake before he fell and caught him and lowered him the rest of the way down. He looked at me like i was a miracle worker for knowing he was going to fall.
" No not yet, but are you feeling ok?" i asked as i sat down in front of him and looked at his face closely. He nodded and then fell asleep again.
