One Last Time

Kabanata XVI: RESISTANCE

RESISTANCE.

TUNOG ng pagsarado ng pinto ang gumising sa kay Levi nang umagang 'yon.

Hawak ang namimigat pa ring ulo, marahan siyang umupo at sumandal sa headboard ng kanyang kama. He looked at the curtains of his bedroom window. The windows were slightly open, allowing some sunlight to come in.

It's Saturday, and he doesn't have to work on site today. He won't be back until Monday, so he has plenty of time to recuperate before returning to work.

"You're finally awake."

He heard her voice next to him, which made his forehead crease. Mabilis niya itong nilingon.

"Good morning!" Keira greeted him with a smile. Her slightly messy and loose hair was in full view. She wasn't wearing any make-up. The mole next to her eye was even more noticeable, especially when the sun hits her pale face.

He moved away from leaning on the headboard and sat at the edge of the bed.

"Why are you still here?" he asked Keira coldly.

Keira flashed him a warm smile. "How was your sleep? Are you feeling better now?"

He immediately averted his gaze when Keira started stepping towards him. Keira's wearing one of his long-sleeved white polo shirts that reach only halfway down her thighs. One wrong move...he would see her underwear!

Napapitlag siya na parang napapaso nang maramdaman ang malambot na palad ng dalaga sa kanyang leeg.

"W-What are you doing?" gulat na tanong niya at bahagya pang napaatras. Masyado niyang pinagtuunan ang itsura nito kaya hindi niya namalayang nakalapit na pala ito sa kanya.

"I'm just checking if you still have a fever," nakangiting sabi sa kanya ni Keira.

Hinawakan niya ang kamay nito at inilayo sa leeg niya. "I'm feeling fine. Umuwi ka na baka hinahanap ka na sa inyo."

Keira just raised an eyebrow. Umatras ito sa kanya at lumapit sa couch na katapat ng kanyang kama. She slumped there, combing her hair with her fingers. Meanwhile, he quickly shifted his face to the side!

He heard her let out an annoyed sigh.

"How rude. Do I look so bad without makeup that you can't even look at me?"

"You should leave, Yturralde. I can handle myself," malamig niyang sabi sa dalaga. Humarap siya dito, na hindi dapat niya ginawa! Nasilip niya ang underwear nito nang gumalaw ito sa kinauupuan nito.

He gulped. It wasn't the first time he had seen her in her underwear, but damn, this woman was being careless! Memories from the past months suddenly flooded back to him, the night when he had lost control.

Damn it! He got a little hard. He's still a man after all, not some saint! This woman is such a tease and dangerous for mankind!

Keira's chuckles snapped him back to his senses.

"My parents will understand. Hindi na ko minor na kailangang ipaalam ko pa sa kanila lahat ng ginagawa ko."

Tumayo siya sa kama. "Ms. Yturralde, it doesn't matter if you're young or not. What matters is your respect for your parents."

Keira's smile disappeared. "Are you trying to say I don't respect my parents?"

"I didn't say that," malamig niyang sabi bago naghubad ng T-shirt.

Hindi niya pinansin ang malagkit at malisyosong tinging iginagawad sa kanya ng dalaga at sa katawan niya.

He heard Keira clear her throat before standing up. "Breakfast is ready. Take a shower first so you can freshen up."
