Behind the Pain

The diner

Slowly the busy crowds and streets started disappearing until it was only a couple of cars on the road, Marshall could sense my confusion as to wear he was taking me for dinner, that's why he has been reassuring me for the past 10min that he isn't kidnaping me.
But for some reason he didn't have to reassure me, I oddly felt comfortable in his presence.
Just like any moment with someone you aren't to familiar with the conversations and feeling comfortable with each other took it's time to kick in but once it did, we both sounded like we have known each other for years.

" it's just up at the end of this road" he said as he drove down a quiet street, it isn't like we are on a deserted highway with nothing around it's just a lot quieter then the other suburbs of Michigan, I now understand why he likes coming to this town, hardly anyone would recognize him here.

" I know it's secluded but it's convenient" he commented while turning into the drive way of the restaurant, I guess you can't call it a restaurant more like a diner.

" Oooo WOW!!! " I astonishingly said, getting out of the car quickly to stare at the Diner in front of us, I was even to quick for Marshall who has walked over to help me out of his car and hold my door like a gentleman.

"Ummmm it's just an old Diner, majority of normal people wouldn't even give this a second glance while driving past" he commented, studying my surprised and excited reaction to him bringing me here, he is right a lot of people wouldn't drive in here because it doesn't look like a 5 star restaurant and it just looks like a good place for teenagers to hang, but even so you have no idea how excited I am.

" True... but I have always wanted to come to one of these American Diners " I replied trying to hold excitement in, you see I have wanted to come to one of these cafe since I was a little girl after watching some famous American movies, I love the whole idea of the retro booths and the retro feeling they give out while waiting for your food.

" Is this your first time to one these Diners?" Marshall asked sounding really surprised that I have never been to one before.

" We don't have Diners like these in australia unless you research and try to find one" I answered, walking towards the Diner doors and listening to Marshall laugh at my excitment and how happy I am to be here.

" Trust me, they are so much better when its Breakfast time" He continued talking while we found a booth towards the back but also making sure that we are close to a side door just in case a few people start recognising who is actually sitting in this Diner like a normal person.

We took a few mintues to get settled in and finish our conversation on these American Diners before another topic found its place in our converstion and jokes. I honesetly wasnt expexting to feel this comfortable or relaxed with someone that has so many sides to him and is my Boss, but for some reason just sitting here and talking to him its like ahnging with an Old friend and catching up, he diefiantly isnt acting like that Cocky dickhead or Arse hole who i first started working for.

" Marshall, how have you been?" Some guy asked while coming towards our table with a notepad, obvisouly he is the waiter for tonight but I' m still not sure how he knows Marshall. They just seem to friendly to know each other through coming to this Diner a lot, the way they hug and talk its like they are Family or close friends.

" Been good Man, what about you?and your Family?" Marshall asked taking his seat again across from me. The young Dark guy semed very comfortable with Marshall and is happy to answer all of Marshall's questions, he is not even the slightest bit concerned about anyone Noticing he is Eminem, he is just happy to tallk to this young Boy who doesnt look any older than my children.

" They're all good" he replied, smiling softy and showing his bright white teeth. I just sat there watching Happily as they had their conversation and allowing them to obvisoly catch up on things.
