Elizabeth's Pov

After ensuring that my skates were securely fastened, I hesitantly took Phillip's arm as he held me up wright so I wouldn't toppled over on the ice. I still was unsure about what Phillip was hiding from me, but I thought for know it would be best if I just enjoyed myself and let him tell me on his own terms - even though I really wanted to know.

Phillip instructed me on how to skate, well tried to instruct me. I don't really have that much co-ordination, so the majority of the beginning of the skating session was me clumsily running to Phillip. Thankfully, not with enough force to knock either of us over.

His arm guided itself around my waist as he continued to hold onto me, as if I was a baby deer walking on snow  for the first time.

"Slide and pivot." He repeated as I begun to skate on my own, slowly towards the middle of the lake. Now, I thought I was going really well, I was skating by myself while Phillip fiddled with something. He somehow managed to keep moving on the ice, on his swift twinkling skates as he did fine figure eights and nines. Let's just say he was being a tiny bit of a show off.

But nevertheless, I couldn't help but to clapped at his ability. A word of advice for new skaters, when you are on your skates and get distracted it usually results in one thing. When I had began to clap, I managed to lose my footing and fell over directly onto the cold ice. And to make matters  worse I could not get up.

I really was like a baby deer walking on snow....

Phillip, while I was on the cold ice attempting to get up, couldn't help it. He began to smile and it grew into a chuckle not long after. After he had finished laughing at my misfortune and lack of co-ordination, he finally made his way over to me to help me up off the ice.  Lets just say that, I wasn't the happiness skater on the planet at that moment in time. I could feel my face turning red as a freshly scrub beet, both from the cold and from Phillip laughing at me.

Once Phillip had helped me up, I skated over to the edge of the lake and began to take off my boots, as they were extremely  painful, and place my regular boots on.  Phillip called out questioning me as I walked onto the fresh pile of snow, asking me where I was going.

I raced away, hiding behind a tree so he couldn't see me. Slowly I crouched down and made a ball of snow, ready to strike when Phillip walked past. He actually thought that I wasn't going to get him back for laughing at me? He was very, very wrong.

I could hear Phillip approaching, yelling out my name in order to locate me. Once I could see him out of the corner of my eye, I swung around from behind the tree and threw the snowball directly at him. Hitting him square in the face.

I couldn't tell if he was upset at this but this was quickly clarified as he began to laugh.

"It is on." He stated before lurching at the ground to make snowballs.

I could feel the iciness of the winter weather bite through my gloves as we threw snowballs at each other, dying each others hair white with snow. When Phillip bent down to make another snow ball, I sprinted ( as fast as I could on snow) away, trying to find a place of refuge for me to catch my breathe.

I pressed my back up against and oak tree, my breathing rapid as I tried to steady it, attempting not to give away my location. I carefully backed away from the tree, keeping my eyes peeled for any sign of Phillip.

I thought I was fine and in a clearing until I walked right into someone else's back. In three, slow, seconds we had turned around to face each other. I quickly pressed the snow ball into his hair, scruffing it up a bit more than usual before proceeding an attempt at an escape.

Didn't work.

A fresh pile of snow fell underneath my feet and I rolled down the small hill on the other side. Phillip, not seeing my fall, ran after me and proceeded to do the same.

We both ended up at the bottom of the hill, only a few inches apart before I closed the gap with a soft kiss, trying to warm up both of us. Phillip wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer before breaking the kiss.

"Marry me." He whispered, worried that the perfectness of the situation might all be a dream.

I was taken back by his half statement, half question. And a "what?" formed on my lips as I wasn't one hundred percent sure I heard him correctly.

He sat up next to me, helping me into a sitting position as his hand search threw his jacket pocket. Pulling out a small box and opening it.

"Never in my life did I think I would met someone as amazing, smart, wonderful, beautiful as you are Lizzy. I have loved you since the moment I saw you on the trapeze, it took me some time to figure it out, but I am absolutely positive of the way I feel for you.  You make ma happier than I ever thought I could be and, if you let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way. Will you, Elizabeth Gray, marry me?"

The snow fell around us as I nodded my head, muttering yes, as he crashed his lips up against mine, kissing me as well as smiling into the kiss which caused me to smile as well.

Phillip took the ring out of the box and slid it onto my left hand. Kissing my hand as he placed the ring on.

"I love you Elizabeth Gray."

"I love you too, Phillip Carlyle."
