Elizabeth's Pov

( Later that day)

Anne had informed us that the whole city of New York was now aware of Phillip and I's engagement and now apparently we are to be wed in exactly two weeks, where dozens of reporters and other members of society would be attending.

All I wanted was a small, simple wedding. That is all. I didn't want hundreds of people, just the people at the circus and the Barnum's.

The carriage clopped its way across the streets, causing the closed curtains to bounce, allowing the smallest bit of the outside world to creep into Phillip's and I carriage. We didn't say much when we discovered our rushed wedding, just nodded and Anne left us be to plan our supposed wedding. Then we just sat by the fire, Phillip constantly referring back to the newspaper while I just sat there and watched the flames dance over the wood.

"We will work something out" His voice echoed the carriage, trying to sound reassuring but even he could tell that some glimmers of doubt entered his voice.

"I know" I replied. "I just can't believe that it is all happening so fast." I admitted, looking at him. The carriage slowly pulled up at the circus and Phillip helped me out of the carriage due to my dress getting caught under my feet these last couple of days.

Phillip's fingers intertwined with mine and we began to walk. We got three steps away from the carriage before Reporters and people of all kinds started to talk to us. All at once. There were protestors trying to get good pictures for tomorrows paper, people congratulating us, other booing us.

Phillip grabbed my hand and pushed through the crowd dragging me along with him, trying to get away from all the people. W.D and Lettie stood at the front of the tent and quickly ushered us inside, W.D closing and locking the flap into place with some rope, ensuring that we were the only ones in the tent.

"They have been here since 8:30am. Asking about you two." Lettie admitted as I caught my breathe.

"When do you think they will leave?" Phillip asked as he stood next to Lettie, trying to decipher a way for us to avoid them at all costs.

"We tried asking them to leave, but there was too many of them." W.D explained as he walked over to us.

"They are never going to leave." I announced, causing everyone to look at me. "They are never going to leave us alone. They will stay here until we are married Phill, I mean Anne said it herself. "

I let out a groan in frustration before walking away to go on trapeze to calm me down a little. Just the thought of them thinking that they have the right to invade our privacy, it makes my blood turn into iron.

I wrapped my wrists up and changed into some shorts before dismounting on the trapeze. Letting my self fly back and fourth through the air. I trapeze bar was cold, making the hairs on my arms stand as I glided through the air.

After staying up in the air for at least half an hour, I finally came back own to earth. Planting my feet back onto the ground. Phillip coming up behind me and placing his hand on my shoulder.

"You okay?"

"I wish I was." I stated. "It's just this whole wedding thing with the newspapers. No privacy whatsoever. And it is making me think that what if they never go away Phill? Stay outside, watching our every move." I could see that Philip hadn't thought of this as his face contorted into a sudden realisation. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be so...so upset about this."

"No, I am sorry." He blurted out as soon as I finished my sentence.

" Why are you sorry?"

"Because it is my fault that they are here. I am a Carlyle. They are just here watching me, seeing if I am going to go back to my old life. Seeing what I am going to do next." He began.

"Phillip it is not because you're a Carlyle. Well, it might be a small part but nevertheless it more to do about the differences between us. What they see as differences." I said, gesturing towards the entrance to the tent, where we both knew that on the other side - hundreds were waiting. "There is just nothing we can do." I stated. "But, on the Brightside, we are going to get married."

I stood up on the tips of my toes and placed a small kiss on the side of his cheek. Well meant to, but then he moved his head so my lips met his and we both just , kind of, sunk into the kiss before remembering where we were and pulled away, due to someone clearing there throat. I don't know who yet but we Moved away from each other, the red tint of a blush still evident on our ears.

I gave Phillip a quick kiss on the cheek, saying that I would see him later, before running off to practise some stuff out back.

Phillip's Pov

I could still feel my heart racing from the kiss as I watched her run back stage. I felt a bit guilty since it was my name that ruined her quiet wedding. But I think I had a plan, I just needed some help. Anne and W.D definitely, Lettie as well. P.T and Charity would help and the girls would as well. And I am sure that all the performers would help out as well.

It could work.

It will work.

I will make it work.

I pulled out the crumpled piece of paper from before, where Anne had helped us plan some small aspects of our wedding. Things like what flowers Lizzy wanted and that kind of stuff. All the things I would need to turn this circus into Lizzy's quiet and simplistic wedding.
