Phillip's Pov

I fell into an out of sleep for the entire night, Lizzy staying on my mind. Everyone hour I would fall asleep then and hour later I would be up. Drifting in and out of consciousness. At some point when I was sleeping, I felt a sudden movement next to me. I sat upright to find Lizzy tossing and turning, throwing blankets off, as she jolted up right. Her breath ragged. I placed my hair on her shoulder, as she began to calm down.

Another nightmare.

I didn't get them as bad or a frequent as she did, but I could tell myself it was a dream. Distinguish from reality and continue to sleep peacefully whereas Lizzy, I don't know.

"Phillip? Where did you go last night?" She asked as she moved to the edge of the bed, letting her legs swing to the beat of the pendulum in the other room. I moved over and sat next to her, giving her my suit jacket to wrap around her arms.

"I didn't go anywhere Liz, how did you end up here?" I questioned back, trying to make sense of the events which happen the evening before.

"I came here after I found out that you had left me." She stated slowly, trying to piece the pieces of the puzzle together.

"Who told you that I had left." We both said in unison, our voices almost harmonising.

"Mr Carter told me you had left when I went to find you to ask you...." Lizzy trailed over, averting her eyes to the floor.

"Ask me what Liz?"

"Lillia said that you two were engaged."

I started to explain to her what had happened when I was sixteen, four years ago, before she intruppeted me.

"I don't care Phillip." She stated, her shoulder moving up then down in frustration probably. "I care about that I don't know anything about you.  Anything about who you were in the past. You know my whole story but I have only seen tiny slithers of yours."

Once she told me this, It did dawn on me that she was correct. I hadn't told her anything about my past, while she had told me everything. But it wasn't that I didn't trust her. It was more that I was ashamed of who I was...what I was. There are so many things to tell her, but how to make her see. The truth about my past, I was scared she would turn away from me.

She looked at me, her green eyes pleading me to tell her something about my past. I sighed, placing my head into my hands as I began to speak.

"I was an absolute mess. Iproposed to her when I was fifteen, barly evening knowing what love was at the time. I just did it because I thought that was what was expected of me at the time. We broke it off not too long later, but we never kissed. I'm not proud of who I was in the past Lizzy, but I am proud of what the circus has made me. What you have made me."

"Phillip, you don't need to tell me now." Lizzy moved her hand into mine. "Just to know that in the future, you might share little more is enough for me." Gently she placed a small kiss on my cheek, before pulling away. "Why did Carter tell me that you had left?"

I shrugged. "Did he say anything other than that to you?"

She tensed slightly, enough for me to notice it. The playfulness had dropped out of my voice instantaneously. "Lizzy, what did he say to you."

"It was nothing, you don't need to worry about it Phil" She said, trying to divert the subject away from this matter.

"Liz."

She sighed in defeat, her eyes moving away from mine. "He said that I was beautiful despite my skin and, um, he touched my face to move a strand of hair away."

"He touched you?" I could feel my entire body tighten at her words, my hand clenching around the blanket besides me.  I mean to them Lizzy was still my fiancée but her still attempted to court her.

"The locks." I said out of the blue. She looked at me confused. "Where were you when  Carter spoke to you?"

"The corridor on the second floor, just above the staircase."

The kitchen door opened right out onto the first floor hallway, which means you can hear everything on the second floor. However, if someone was forced to go the long way, they disappear for a while. Not being to here anything on any other floors.

"That sneaky son of a..." I began before cutting myself off. I explained to Lizzy what Thomas had done. She had to keep a hold of my had, stop me from leaving the house to go find him.

The sound of the door chimes, caused Lizzy to run over to the balcony in her room.  I quickly jogged over to catch up, seeing a person standing in the doorway; only just removing there cloak.

"Mom?" Lizzy exclaimed as she ran down stairs.
